Purple Anemone

It's been almost 48 hours since I put the purple LTA in the tank.. and WOW.. it's amazing! Great color, movement, and it's close to 8 inches wide! I LOVE it.

I'd really like to get a nice pair of percs to host the 'nem.. but I know they're not a natural host for the percs. I've seen a few pics of people with similar clown/nem combo's, but is it common for percs to host?

(Just concerned b/c my old pair of occi's never hosted anything but a powerhead..)

Looking forward to it!

Not the best pic, but here's the first. The color is pretty close, but not exact:

And a second, with flash (shows the nice contrasting colors, if you use your imagination ;) ) :

The 'nem is about 8 inches wide. Much larger than I thought it was going to be, as I had expected 4 inches max, ... not complaining though.

I have to get in there and do some scraping of the overflow box ;) THAT'S for sure...

I love the purple nems, is there a bubble tip version of the purple, or is it long tipped only?
i got a real nice 7" rbta but my new snow's would look better in purple i think.

My H. malu. Purple and carrying eggs. The green on is the male. They spawned once already. I got my timing down and hope to be able to raise some babies next time. My observation indicated that H. malu is a species that reproduce by internal fertilization (like report of S. gigantia). She released the babies at night between 48-60 hrs after spawn. I was not able to save any. They got chew up by the pump

What are the green things on the rocks in the back ground? I ask because I have some on one of my rocks.

wicked_NaCl_h2o & everybody who has them:

How deep is your sandbed, I know the recommendation of 4". I find that for mine, they seems to be satisfied with 2.5" sandbed, so wondering what everybody's are at?

I tried multiple healthy ones in a barebottom tank without much success long term (~3months). There are also pink ones that are more rare

My sand is 5 inches deep on the side where the LTA is. It seems to love it and completely buries itself under the sand every once in a while. It hasn't moved from the spot where I put it. This anemone tends to move when you put them in shallow sand.
