Purple crispa

Vincent,
if you can get him to the front, he will look really nice. You will not see his column ever. All in the sand.

At 80 degree, the eggs was released by the mother after about 48 hrs at night. The first batch got chewed bu by my filter system. I was trying to get everything for the second patch. I was going to turn the pump off at night and use an air pump over night. However, that tank sprung a leak about 10 days after I took that picture above and I lost the female. I have several Malu right now but have not able to get the to spawn again. I am not trying too hard right now. I have a few male but don't think I have a female. I am trying to get a few more. Actually I am trying to get Vincent to sell his anemone to me as he is looking for a Magnifca. I am not sure if we can arrange for shipment or not.
If I am able to do it, I will keep you guys update on how he turn out and his ID

That's a shame losing them. Sorry for your loss.

How do you sex them? Or is it only by observation of releasing eggs or sperm?

Just from observation of eggs and sperms.
I have been looking very closely at my Malu, Mag, Haddoni and Gigantea to see if I can see any structure differences between various animals, but not able to see any significant differences. I am sure if we ant to dissect them we can tell male from female but I am not to the point of killing them yet.
I was trying to see the difference between my female and male Malu, but the female died before I can make any significant observation.

Vincent send me this anemone. I did not have time to take a lot of picture. I want to comment that in person, it does not look like a Magnifica but does not look like a Malu either. Way too many tentacles for this size Malu. I am not sure but it is a Mystery anemone right now.

I don't know. I will really document various shot of this anemone and we will see.
Vincent said that his A. percula ignored it.
Some one said it is a BTA, but I don't think so. You will see when I take picture of the column and the mouth

I keep at least 3 tiny Mags before. They really don't look like that IMO. I did not have time today over my lunch break at the FedEx office, rand home, quick temp adjustment and check salinity, then just dump him into my HT. I get more picture this PM

Purple crispa

Glad it made it ok.

It moved from rock down into sand. It had a column that is deeper purple around the foot and fades upwards.

No lines around the mouth and the the tents taper to points.

My Percula ignored it for a week.

There are multiple tentacles with rings on them. How bug is that anemone? If it is less than 6 inches it is not a Magnifica but a Malu

I agree. Additionally, not a single one of those "H.magnifica's" has a bifurcated tentacle which is present to some degree or another on all three H.magnfica's I currently own and on every single H.magnifica I've ever seen, (either in person or in picture).

Those anemones are either

H.malu, (most likely)

or

H.crispa

After 36 hrs in the tank, this anemone expanded a lot. He look a lot more like a Malu at this time. The number of tentacles still a little more than I think a Malu should have, but over all, he is more like a Malu. I am not 100% certain. Maybe he is a young Crispa. This anemone have no ringed tentacles like some of the other one in the same group.
