Purple crispa

Well, had to flush one of the small ones, but so far the purple looks like it could make it. The little green one I had treated before for the foot injury is also still hanging in.
I'm at the 5th dose now... I may need to do a few more than 7.

Found this purple crispa on eBay:

I just picked up this from the same seller.

This looks more like a malu to me. I've never seen a green oral disk with a crispa.
Tentacle shape and length also rather fits a malu.

My purple crispa is still in treatment. It still has its mouth open a lot and still spits out lumps of brown and white slime. But it doesn't mess up the water anymore.

Tonight It gets the 7th cipro dose. I'm not sure if additional doses will do good or rather harm. It may have higher recovery chances when I return it to the 42 gallon tank...

Yea. I was thinking it may be a Malu too. I probably should have got some more pictures before buying it but I think I can still squeeze a Crispa in my tank if I ever finally manage to find one.

I've found if a natural host and a non natural host are present in the same tank they tend to use the non natural host faster. Or just a weird coincidence for me.

Minh, that's a beautiful pair of clowns.

So tell me, I've got a pair of Mocha ocellaris and want to get them an anemone they'll accept. I've got bta's they won't even look at. What would work that won't eat my other fish? Would malu or crispa be ok, or would I be better off with a mag? I'd still worry about them eating fish though.

Only anemone I lost fish to are Gigantea and Haddoni. Had Magnitude fi a for years no problem. Your clown will go into a Mag. Choose natural host if possible. The affinity is much better

I have two H.mags that have eaten fish.

One ate a small Magnificent Foxface. The other ate a large Tomini Tang. Well....killed, and engulfed it for a few days, then regurgitated the undigested remainder out into the tank.

Rather nasty looking.

So a Mag would be my best choice, but what about them eating fish? The only fish I would worry about is my Cherub angel, he is always so close to my BTA's that I would worry about it.

I would want a smaller Mag maybe 6" and wouldn't feed it so it wouldn't grow much is my plan. Is there a good place to buy small Mag's at a good price that ships?

Well, looks like my purple crispa is on it's way out. In the future I will just stick with giganteas - I simply have a better track record with them: one lost out of 5 and I only had to treat 3 to begin with. The one small blue I lost, I lost right after the failed treatment.
My long term track record with malu/crispa is an abysmal 10 lost out of 10 :headwalls:

IMO gigs are way hardier and more forgiving to less than stellar water quality once acclimated and free of infections. I kept some and still keep one of them under rather poor conditions in 10 gallon QTs and they still do fine.
