Purple Haddoni From Petco

Congrats on keeping him alive, it looks stunning in your very European minimalistic tank set up. I really like it

Ps. did you do anything special to turn it around?

It was healthy from Day one, never needed my help. Alll i did was dig a hole in the sand where I wanted it. I have changed the flow since adding it. It is sensitive to flow. Too much and it shrinks, too little and it looks lifeless.

if you notice in the pictures it has moved backwards out of the light, it pushed that huge rock 6 inches backwards. I also moved the sunpower over to the right 2 inches so that it is not even under the light. ATI's and shallow tanks are tricky to get right.

Very nice looks healthy!
Thank you

Do they have anymore?
No and the green one died the day after i was there

My Petco only has condi's also.
have you checked lately, there is a new corporate push towards saltwater. I used to run the Animal Department at this particular petco (needed a job fast) and when i started we were ordering 49 dollars of fish and inverts a week, I got the weekly order up to around 1,000 dollars and they thought I was a fish God. The New corporate guidlines have them ordering 700 a week now.

I got a nice Pink Birdsnest frag there yesterday for 19.99

Never thought of my tank as European even though my equipment is. too kind.

That's a great find at Petco.
I know right! thank you.
I need a petco in my area.:uhoh2: That anemone would be at least a couple hundred bucks around here.
there was a bleached tan haddoni at the LFS down the street for 6 months priced at 199.99. the LFS here are the worst.

Petco based in San Diego is a horribly run company that can't sell a variety of animals in California due to past animal health violations.

I just fed it for the second time. Chunks of fish and clams from rods food.

Took about 5 minutes to swallow, I placed the chunks on its mouth it's not very sticky. It is getting stickier but slowly, I think I also may have bleached it slightly in the first week.

I am 50 miles from the nearest true reef shop, and at least Petco carries my IO Reef Crystals mix at a reasonable price. There are a lot of things that they do not carry, though, (such as decent test kits like Salifert) so it still is necessary for me to buy a lot of things online. I also generally prefer the reef shop for livestock as well, as my Petco isn't much on that.

i still see lots of dry shipped anemones. i was under the impression it was for two reasons: keeps weight and freight costs down for smaller lighter bagging, and if they dont have any water to foul up, theyre more likely to survive transport better....
