viet, i would have sold them to you for a lot less lol..

Comon Frost. Do you really think I would pay that much for a polyp of anything? I was just kidding, anyone who is willing to pay that much either has money to spare, or needs some serious help.

wow beautifull ,but for this one I would have to do the OJ in the mask arm robbery. If i would buy one we would have an execution in my house .:D

Tell my g/f that... she's got her eye on Limited Edition Tyree Watermelon Chalice frags. :rolleye1:

Does that mean there are only going to be less than 10 of these frags available at all? And that the new owner would not be able to cut and sell their chalice?? :), I like kidding around. Never heard of a living thing being a limited edition.

yeah, i dont think i could ever spend more then 50 on a single coral smaller then my wart.. i couldn't believe that people actually pay these prices for coral.

holy crap, if i got 1500 for that frag i would have enought to buy a life time supply of salt or finally get a 125g reef going.. it's very tempting...

they are nice but they look common to me. They kind of remind me of Purple hearted zoas. nice but i wouldnt pay more then $5-$10/polyp for those.

Its amazing what kind of money you can make with a little creative photography, photoshop and a lack of conscience. No way those neon blue zoos will look that way under normal lighting.

Ultimately, I believe legit sellers deserve a premium. Supply and demand ultimately catches up as the corals propagate and/or fads wane and the price comes down. Consequently, those in the designer coral business must constant hunt for the newest and greatest and ultimately hope they don't die when they do find it. Is it clever marketing, you bet. However, I think ultimately its a shot in the arm for captive propagation and conservation.

When you get right down to it, it has a lot to do with location to. Just because No one close has it doesn't make it rare, and this thread illustrated that. There are 4 members for sure here that have a very close morph to those. All of wich came from Jeff for a great price. If the guy that won that auction knew what Jeff sold them to me for and I sold a few heads for he'd really kick him self.

Those extravagant prices only add to the falacy that this hobby is only for the exclusive upper class. I've got a colony of highlighter green and yellow zoas in my tank now that snuck in on a rock, and I've never seen before. I'd rather wait for it to grow out and frag it for locals then be one of the ***** that might keep a new comer from trying this hobby out.
