I know, i know.. another one right?... well I'm posting a poll here to see what type of responses/input and percentage we get of how reef safe pygmy angels are from reefers who actually have them in their displays..

thought this up since I have a 1.25" potters in quarantine; and wondered what my chances are.. I've read many mixed reviews.. I just thought this poll may give some of us a better idea/understanding.. Thanks

Flameback pygmy, had for more than a year and did not bother anything

Current fish are a flame angel pair and does not bother any corals (soft, frogspawn, torch, zoas, anemones, bubble coral, shrooms)

mine was a nightmare I will never have another again. I had it two years and then suddenly it began distroying zoa's ,sps's you name it.
it took a solid week to catch this fish.

Flame angel, lost 2 SPS frags, an acro and milli, started on birdsnest but I saved it.
She also eats blue cloves and xenia.

Never again.

Rusty, less than a year. Never destroyed anything, but my Millies have zero PE since I added it. Ive never seen it nip at them though. Probably does it as soon as I look away................................

potters less than a year, polyp extension was definitely reduced on sps. lost a milli frag, but everything else seems ok for now. oh yeah, I did have to give away my clam because he was getting a little rough with it.

my roll of the dice caused me to rehome both my flame and my coral beauty
at first it was just lack of pe then all the sudden there were no polyps at all.
I had these fish for quite awhile my cb I had for nearly 3 years with no problem until one day they went rogue one after the other but I don't think its a roll of the dice at all I think they all will nip/eat/destroy sooner or later just give them some time. since removing them my pe was back within 48 hours. jmho
coral VS. fish no contest here:)

Only good experience I have ha dis with my dad's flame he's had for 4 or 5 years that has never touched a thing. Now I've gone through 4 or 5 chreubs trying to find one that won't eat stuff. They're always angels then just go nuts one day but never touched sps.

Where's the option for:

"Ate SPS the moment I put it in the tank, absolutely not reef safe"

Never again, it's just not worth rolling the dice. Dwarf angels are my favorite fish, but not if it means I have to go back to a fish only tank.

^:lmao: you can choose "LPS Terminator"

so far, it's looking pretty bleak as far as chances my potters won't harm coral goes.. :spin2:

thanks for all the input guys, keep it coming! i'm sure this thread will be beneficial to many people who are looking to add these angels to their reefs.

My Potters has been a model citizen. I keep him pretty well fed though. I'm also one of those type of people that would ditch a whole genus of coral, simply to keep an angel or three.

I've had a Potter's for 3.5 years and so far so good, I feed a lot. Doesn't mess with anything. I had a Flame that was good for a year and then it started nipping so it had to go. Also had an Eibli for about 2 months before it was removed due to nipping.

Dooly, I feed mostly New Life Spectrum every day, and treat with frozen food once a week. The frozen food is a homemade recipe similar to the recipes found online.

so the poll results so far indicate out of 30 votes; that:

(43%) 13 out of 30 were completely reef safe
(57%) 17 out of 30 pick at coral in one way or another

keep em coming!
