African Flameback, had it for three months and it was a model tankmate. Overnight it discovered that sps and clams apparently taste better than frozen mysis and pellets and inflicted damage quick. First sign was loss of PE but I didn't think much of it. I then noticed my deresa was staying closed, this piqued my interest and required a closer look. Almost immediately the flameback swims by and chomps on the clam. It then swam throughout the tank taking a bite out of each coral it passed. Catching that little s.o.b was a major pain and I have many new frags to prove it. This all happened today, if you had asked this yesterday I would have said the flameback is great for a reef.

wow, i'm sorry to hear that.. I have actually heard that flamebacks generally do pick at coral moreso than other dwarf angels.. thanks for your input!

I have a bicolor, When I put in an SPS it wants to check it out for a few min but the next day its as if the coral isnt even ther and it never picks again, challices it will eat all week. I had a clam and it never noticed it. I keep my fish very fat tho. So Im keeping it sucsessfully in a mixed tank, just no challices brains and im kinda scared to try favias

I had a Flame Angel for 3+ years. He never really appeared to bother anything except for Xenia, which he picked at so much it would stop opening and just melt. I also lost all my green zoas, never realized it was him until I got new ones years later and saw him nip them so much they turned brown. After I pulled him, the green zoas colored up nice, new xenia is doing great, some other polyp corals grew their lashes back, so he was apparently nipping more than I knew. I love angels, but I don't think I'll add another.

I have C. argi (Pygmy/cherub angel) for well over a year and have never had any issues.

Pretty sure I answered this in another forum, but I had a Cherub (C. argi) for over 3 years, never bothered anything. I currently have a C. bicolor that i keep a close eye on, so far, so good. At any rate, I don't have the "Angel Crack"LPS like Trachyphyllia & Scolies & Acans. Just stuff that stings BACK. LOL:spin1:

Current;

Flame -- likes to nip at fleshy LPS, mainly brains. Leaves SPS, clams, zoas, and S. Haddonis anemones alone.

Potter's -- leaves SPS, Clams, zoas, brains, S. Haddonis anemones alone -- so for the corals that I have, reef safe.

Golden -- nips at everything I have -- excluding S. Haddoni anemone. Really likes open brains.

Venustus -- nips at open brains. Leaves zoas, clams and S. Haddoni alone. Slight nipping at SPS.

In the past;

C. Argi -- never touched any corals that I have.

Flameback -- never touched any corals that I had/have.

Lemonpeel -- the spawn of Satan.

Recently got a coral beauty, no problems at the moment.

Doesn't this depend a lot on the species as well as the individual fish's character. Over here it is well publicised that bicolours, lemon peels and a few more are very risky but coral beauties, flame backs and usually flames are usually safe.

it will definitely vary from individual fish to fish, but yes; this poll is representing all dwarf angels as a whole
