QT tank for AEFW...input please

Source for Levasole (trade name for levamisole hydrochloride) and planaria kill I did in thread below. It would be interesting to see if my concentration and dosage info would assist you in your problem. I know the thread is rather long, but the punchline will get you to the point that (this is an experiment with levasole I would be doing if only I had a culture) the planaria kill will also kill the most likely related AEFW as well.

I had great success doing weekly WCs with water from my display to keep params stable in my QT. I use a 10gal, and topoff with kalk.

8 weekly TMPCC dips did the trick. Everything browned out, but nothing died. I'm applying the same procedure to monti-eating nudis now.

Good luck!!!

Well, set up the QT today, and moved all the acros. Some went quietly...others, kicking and screaming

The pillars made life really easy. Just remove the top rocks....break off all the acros....kalk any remaining tissue. Replace rock. Voila! Acro free in no time :D

I did 4 dips with levamisole, 150mg for 1G for 2 hours...never lost any coral

Regards and good luck !!!

I am planning on this dosage as I have not read anything to suggest otherwise.

Today is the first dip. I have to go buy a small heater from the LFS first.....

It's a lot of corals to dip :( Not sure How I'm gonna handle it. What I'll probably do is use a very large cat litter box/pan with a heater and small power head, since horizontal room is what I need...a 5g bucket won't do me much good. It'll probably take 3 separate dips for all the corals....

Wow, it's invertebrate carnage in the cat pan. Pods, asterinas, and brittle stars came flying off almost immediately. The worms are slowly peeling away, flying around thanks to the power head. Also crawling away for dear life. Sweet!

OK, am I doing something wrong? 150mg levimasol per gallon of water for two hours. The AEFW are irritated, but most definitely still alive. Is this normal?

My recommendation...

TRASH THEM ALL!!!!

Or

Cut frags of everything and dump the colonies. Some people have success at treating but with that many eggs i would just scrap them or try keeping frags to dip and regrow out. A single missed egg can ruin everything.

Peter,
Way to be diligent. I think I might try hacking the most egg infested branches away as opposed to scraping. I would say that you need to up the dosage a bit. Go slow. Try 165g-175g in a 1G and see if you get any better results in the next dip. Since you have the quarentine set up you can experiement with dosages a little at a time as you go since you will have to be doing multiple dips...just a thought.
