Question on Maroons and LTAs...

Why would a GSM clown fan the sand around an LTA, put the LTAs tenacles in its mouth and tug on it, and push its foot into a small cave structure? The clown does the usual dance and rub in the anemone, but the fannning, pulling, pushing isnt allowing the LTA to drop its foot. I have since turned the lights completely off for a 24 hour black out in hopes for the GSM to leave the LTA alone.

Who said this was "normal introduction behavior"?

Maroons (any clown really) can be very hard on surrogate hosts. I recently had a maroon kill a healthy, well established, magnifica by biting off its tentacles. I have had maroon living peacefully in a LTA though.

You may want to separate the two, at least long enough for the LTA to get established.

I would say it is normal for a LTA/maroon interface. I would imagine that some of it is because it is not the normal host species for the maroon. The sand faning makes sense, as does the hole pushing when you understand the normal host for the maroon is a rock dwelling anemone. My oldest LTA has hosted a pair of maroons for the last ten years or so- and this behavior persists from time to time. EC is correct on letting the LTA get established before introducing the maroons- especially if the female is large. I have seen many LTA/Maroon interfaces end up with a damaged LTA in a hospital tank.

Yup you guys are right. I got home to find multiple lacerations to the foot and disc. Though the foot was still sticky it was secreating milky white substance from the lacerations so i removed the poor creature. I'm going to bust out the fish trap next week and catch her and donate.
