Question with Oregon Tort Color....

Who know's . . .

Could be. . .

My personal W.A.G. is that this particular coral is photo-adapted to 400 watt MH lighting especially Radium bulbs and anything else changes it's characteristics significantly,

Well I just gave my 400 watt radium up for an echotech marine radion....I sure hope you are wrong about that.....:lolspin:

Added several fish a few months ago and started feeding the tank three times a day. Color seems to be coming back

Here is my oregon tort from original owner to another reefer to me. Been friends with the originator of this coral for years, hes a great guy

wow very nice. Just picked up a small frag or this sps as well. let's see how it does a year from now

Has it kept its color under the Radions? Or do you think it's too early to tell?

It's probably too early to say for sure but honestly I think the color has actually improved along with several other of my SPS. I'm happy with the switch so far.

Is that under Radion Pros? My friend changed from Radion Gen2 to the Pro and his SPS colours did actually improve...Or at least they appear better under the Pro.

OP: Even if it's not an Oregon tort, it looks absolutely beautiful to me. I think we spend too much time in this hobby worrying about pedigree. Not saying that the 'pedigree' corals are often spectacular, but I've seen nonames that are very bit as beautiful. I would be proud to have that coral in my tank. Also, identifying a coral species is nearly impossible until they grow out and, it is my understanding that in many instances, a confirmed identification requires placing the skeleton under a microscope.

Your tank looks pretty amazing to me and again, you should be proud. I'd also suggest that 'low nutrient' is in the eye of the beholder. We've all seen VLN tanks that are amazing. On the other hand, there are those that swear by the need for measurable phosphates (and even some that insist you need some nitrates) to have a successful tank. If what you are doing is working (and it certainly appears that it is), keep it up.

well said.

Nope. Two Gen 2s

Still looks pretty good for being under LED. Just be careful with the light levels under LED's. Can be deceivingly bright. My buddy turned down the overall light level once I took PAR measurements. His SPS and LPS had that pale sort of Zeovit look, even though he never ran ULNS. His SPS corals under the Radion Pro are quite colourful though, and not brown etc.
