HAHA! We could call it "Barkless Curly-tailed Bashiba inji H3ll Dog"

lol

BTW, your baby copperband is the cutest lil fish I've ever seen. Goodluck with him!

DHL blows... Paul's coral's were supposed to come in yesterday by 3pm. The box was on my door step this morning at 10am. ONLY 19 HOURS AND AN EXTRA COLD NIGHT IN A TRUCK OUTSIDE LATE GUYS!

My apartment's office blows too. They told me they would call me the second they saw the DHL guy as I explained the situation as best I could without being a total nerd to them (hot chicks work in the office :D.. can you imagine "MY CORALS ARE DYING FROM LOW ORP, PH, AND TEMP. RELATIVE TO THE OCEAN!"). I got a text from DHL saying they delivered it at 10a.m. no call from the apartment....

I open my door and the box is on the floor. With the QT at 80 degrees and ready, I open the box. Paul and Zoanuts packed everything really well considering. There were 3 large heat packs in the sealed cooler and peanuts around the outside. I opened the cooler to the stench of dying acros, broken corals everywhere, and me wanting the throw stuff. Only 11 frags, I paid for 13.

UGH.. I'll post pics later. I'm not happy.

I glued the frags to LR stubble that I had. My whole apartment now wreaks of dying coral. A couple look amazing. A few had tissue flaking off in my hand as I was applying superglue. A bunch were broken. All are now in the QT.

The CBB is swimming funny in the main tank :(

I'll post pictures later, too depressed ATM.

You guys need to figure out a way to slip a microphone in Quiksilver's apartment. The stuff I just heard over the phone was soo funny that I'm almost in tears.

Evan needs a Wednesday reboot in a bad way. :)

Hey Evan, tell us about that cute dog of yours again.

Here's the pictures from the DHL disaster:

Water looks like h3ll after about 3 hours in QT. My apartment smells like Houston and L.A. put together at low-tide.

Depressed... going to the library to study for my series7 exam...

You love those white clips. I see them in every project. ;)

I hope you are able to save some of those corals, but with it being as cold as it was last night, it'll be tough for most corals to be able to endure that temp. swing.

FYI, I never glue new arrivals. I just get them into quarantine and leave them alone for a few days to let them heal up before I handle them or apply glue, which are both further stressors.

Ordering sucks so bad. A couple years ago I used to live in an apt. the girls in the office would ALWAYS promise "oh yea, we'll call you as sooooon as the truck arrives." Never had ONE f-in call. I'd go in there and look at the packages, and they'd say "yup, that one's yours"

not to mention the waiting.....and waiting....

hope the CBB pulls thru, I've heard stories that they rarely survive after a move

I'm really surprised to hear this from that guy. I PM'd him asking what was left and a few questions bc I wanted to order and he never PM'd me back. I'm REALLY glad he didn't now!

Hopefully he refunds your money that's pretty bad looking!

another question about the magnivore...

does it compact the media somehow?? other media reactors that i have seen, compress the media and "force the water through it...

this one looks like the media is just loose within it. seemingly, the media could then be blown over to one side of the compartment and water would just go right past the media (not be forced through it...)

what is your opinion on this??

If it makes you feel any better I was mounting my purple Acro to one of my "floating rocks" today and I dropped it and broke it into 5 pieces

My opinion is I've had this reactor for just over 24 hours and I don't think I could even test a level enough to have an opinion on this yet. I would say that with as much surface area as comes into contact with the flow, the media is working. But that would totally be an assumption at this point.

Def not Paul's fault. DHL told both of us it would be here the next day by 3:00 P.M. It wasn't here until 2 days after and sat in the cold an extra night.

Paul has been very responsive in emails but you need to remember that he just had to take down his entire system and his whole house is a disaster with bins of corals everywhere.

Paul emailed me and said 3 of the 11 orders sent via DHL went to the wrong places.

I'll never use DHL again.

you know what DHL stands for right? Drop Hurl and Lose. They broke a drive shaft I ordered, a freaking solid metal drive shaft broken in pieces. That takes some freaking work to screw up that bad.

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to Marc the new editor of Reefkeeping Online Magazine. WOOT! I can finally say it now GEEZ...

Check out his first issue for this month. He did an awesome job (and trust me it took him a lot of work). I even helped by making the graph in TOTM Showcase. http://reefkeeping.com/

Melev, you are a dork, but we love you!

Congrats Marc!

Evan, dude that blows about your corals! I have had a similar issue with DHL and don't use them because of it. I'll pay a little more and us UPS or FedEx.

Series 7...interesting...I did not enjoy that at all!!!! Good luck with it I'm sure you will do well!

Whelp... After a craptacular day, I guess it's time for those death and destruction pictures. I treated the corals with Interceptor as Paul wrote me and said a few people had found red bugs. You can read about how to do the same yourself here. The pill of interceptor was $5 at my vet.

I QT'd and treated the frags for about 9 hours. They all look terrible. I'd say about 2 of 11 will live... both green, which I wouldn't put in my main display anyways (too much green already).

The pretty cap, couple acros, slimer, and the rose milli all literally let go of their tissue in the QT within 10 mins of being put in there. The cold from last night was just too much. Everything else died quickly after.

Keep in mind in these pictures I had almost a full prop tank already and so you will see some life amongst the massacre most of which was already in there. All but 2 or so of Paul's frags are already dead.
