R.I.P. Mr. Green (S. Gigantea)

Mr. Green was with me for six month and he was the favorite among the kids my school. Every week he got bigger and bigger.







One day I found a dead Hawaiian tang in my tank sitting on the bottom.
I thought, fresh dead fish, it will be special treat for Mr. Green.

I thought it wouldn't do him any harm since has been super healthy in my tank.

I fed him the dead Hawaiian tang (full of ichs) which made him sick.

He started to inflate and deflate.... at first I thought he was just digesting.
A week passed, I realized he was sick but I convinced myself he was going to get better.

Mr. Green didn't get better, so I got on rc and found a remedy.
So after three weeks, tonight I put him in the QT with ciprofloxacin and he is not looking good.



I deserve to go to reef jail if there is one.

I am a fool... and I am so angry at myself.

It may have not been the tangs sickness that damaged your anemone, i would be more inclined to say that the whole fish with spines and bones probably cause internal damage.

wow, that is a stunning S Gigantea... Tentacles were a bit small but certainly, looked beautiful.... I'm sorry for your loss it's tough

It's in the treatment tank with ciprofloxacin. I put him in 12 hours ago. I'm going to head to school to check on him in few minutes. Wish me luck.

I just switched on the lights. This is Mr. Green and his mouth is closed so my guess he is doing better because his mesentry and pharynx are not showing.

I hope the light will do him some good.

Keep your fingers crossed, but its always hard with anemones once they start to go.

+1 on it not being the fact that the fish was sick. Most likely internal damage and then resulting infection

The mouth being closed is a great sign. He looks good too. That's a beautiful tank btw!
