Radion Gen 4 Pro

Are these in the works? I've been following your annual January releases like people do with the iPhone. Thanks!

LEDs are still being improved every six months why not place the best and improved into a product

Unze is just upset his radions might be outdated soon :uhoh3:

Alton is on the same page I am. Leds and associated technology is rapidly improving, as is our research on their use in aquariums. Efficiency, output, spectral diversity, color ratios, etc. can always be improved. I'm looking forward to see what advancements this innovative company has come up with for the next generation.

I'm more than happy with the technology I'm using now Jordan

Mark, I'm more than happy with my iPhone 6, but that don't mean I don't want the iPhone 7 :p

Not really improving by much, Manufactures are more finding ways to reduce cost.

Nope. :p

Ran halides for 10 years and had decent success while others set up and broke down tanks. Rather have sustained success, rather than newest technology. I guess I'll never be a #ReefHipster. :uzi:

Oh Mark, you sound old and tired. I remember a time when you used to have the first and best of everything!

Ecotech, still wondering if this is in the works, whether anyone else cares or not!

I don't remember that Jordan. I always remember buying proven products. Corals and fish are different, but I guess I'm getting old when I've seen you break down a few tanks

Oh. And the Gen3 Pro's are the best. *cough*

To each his own. You are a dad who craves stability, but back in the day you were the first person I knew to get an iPhone when they came out or a tunze 6055 when they came out. For me at such a young age, breaking down tanks and setting up new ones were a small sacrifice to open a new door...moving to el dorado hills with my family, then working for Monterey bay aquarium/living in Carmel, and now dental hygiene school. Probably will have to take my current one down when I get married next year. Maybe then I'll have the luxury to keep the same tank for awhile like you. Mature tanks like yours look very distinguished and beautiful. Not saying the gen 3 pro's aren't the best...for now. After all, my xr15w pro's came stock with gen 3 pro pucks. :D

I am sure the R & D side is constantly working on improvements and cost reductions. There is always something to improve on and tweak.

The intensities don't need to be improved.

Maybe improve the spectrum slightly.

But the next advancement I would like to see is improved efficiency, reduced Wattage.

Don't get me wrong, you can beat LEDs for efficiency, but maybe could be improved upon.

Saw the latest Kessil and it's wifi and Bluetooth ready so hope the new Radion will be the same. But that won't happen until I buy a buy a reef link.....lol
Looks more like a Radion housing then the typical Kessil shape.

The Radion gen3 was announced in January 2014, and the G1 and G2 was announced in September 2011 and 2012. Since no new Radion LED generation was announced in January this year, we might have to wait until September? They probably wait with the announcement until after I upgrade my gen1 Radion... ;-)

Like my iPhone I usually upgrade every other upgrade. I have Gen 3's so when the Gen 5's come out I will seriously consider upgrading depending on what improvements are made. However, because I finally have found a "happy place" for my reef inhabitants with the Gen 3's I will not be in a hurry to run out and replace what is already working for me. If your tank is happy it's not generally a good idea to start making changes to something as important as lighting.

Like someone said before, intensity is good, spectrum could possibly benefit from improvement, but what I am looking for is something that's in dire need of improving.... SPREAD! If EcoTech could pioneer a new lens that somehow cuts down on the universal issue of shadowing and poor spread, they could pioneer the industry, again.
