radion par over time?

hey all-
i am wondering if anyone has checked par on a radion led fixture after running it at normal levels for an extended period of time. what is par after 1 year? two years? three years?
maybe radion/ecotech has already done this study? if so, can you point me the right way?

Thanks for the chart, Easty. I'm hoping that Ecotech has something official. They've been pretty silent on this. I would think that with their exemplary customer service, they'd be getting right on top of this.

The Radion clusters are rated for 50,000 hours of continuous use. That being said, you will not notice and detectable levels of LED degradation for many years.

I am guessing that you are providing the information from the LED diode manufacturers, Alex. Has Ecotec done any testing on the fixtures themselves, and the degradation of PAR of time. This is pretty important, and I know you folks like to take good care of your customers. Do you have any information regarding degradation?

I am sure it varies widely depending on type of led, quality and then you have all those outside variables. How hot is the area you are running them, abuse to fixture, how high you are driving them. Quality has improved greatly since the original first gens of LEDS coming from China. Those things did not last long. Apple does not give out stats on breakdowns on Iphones/Ipads/Macbooks and they also have good support. I really don't expect them to give out stats. Competitors would love the info.
 
It really wouldn't benefit Ecotech or any other manufacturer to answer this question so I doubt you'll get a more in depth answer. The best and most reliable information may come from a third party source testing different brands in a controlled test.

Actually, it WOULD BENEFIT them because it would engender confidence in their product, as well as enhance an image of integrity.

That happened to me with a Chinese made fixture a few years ago. After 9-10 months, I started to get an algae bloom on the side of the tank with the fixture but on the other side of the tank with a different fixture it was algae free.
 
You're right. It is completely unrealistic to ask Ecotech to do this in order to support their product, but completely realistic for Ali1 to bring cars into the discussion. Too many people on RC don't want to hear ANYTHING but complete and overwhelming praise for Ecotech. I'm not even being critical of them here. I'm simply asking them for data about their product.
 
Show me another company that has similar data, let alone lights that have been out long enough to test.

Whew glad that's over.
The only thing I'm going to add is that if we had a little more constructive criticism here and a lot less (what was that fancy word) fanboi. Then perhaps we'd see some improvements.
I'm kind of amazed this thread has even gotten this far without being censored by an RC mod.
I myself just received a brand new MP40 with a critical part missing!!

That's the problem really! 50,000 hours is what, 5-6 years, so is it realistic for ecotech to run a statistically significant number of fixtures continuously for that long or just accept the QA from the LED manufacturers? Probably not.
 
yes but people run their light eight to ten hours a day. If the company runs it 24/7 they can achieve the results in two years.

I am not only talking about Ecotech but all leds manufacturers. When giving a life to the product it has to be tested in real settings.
