Depends how well you feed it. I had one of mine get pretty sick and shrunk down to about 2" with NO tentacles and almost completely bleached. Once it got to eating, it recovered and is back to a generous 6+ inch anemone again. It took from July to December for it to accomplish this. I was feeding it at least every other day (silversides). I don't know how quickly a healthy anemone would grow in that same time frame, but I would expect more quickly. If you don't feed as much though, the growth won't be nearly as rapid.

catdoc, that is the most impressive recovery I have seen with RBTAs.

bluecarpet, did you just get the bta or have you had it a while? Curious about what it's healthy color will be, looks like it has nice potential once it recovers. Good luck with it!
55, I had all but given the bta up for dead when it finally started eating again. The trick was getting it to eat: I had to hold the silversides at the mouth with forceps until the mouth would envelope the food. The tentacles had lost all their stickiness and couldn't hold onto the fish. Each meal made it stronger, it was amazing to watch the recovery. I'm glad I took pics b/c I think they can give hope to others trying to rescue a sick bta.

I'll be on Key Largo. Last year I did some snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park, which was absolutely amazing. Sadly, as it's a training trip with my university swim team, I'll have very little freedom to be hitting up the beaches or reef. I hope to make it back for some snorkeling again this year, but I'm just not sure the coach is going to give us the opportunity.
Unfortunately it seems like a lot of Key Largo is in rough shape, aside from the gated tourist community we're stuck in. For what it's worth, I'd much rather stay in the roach infested sports complex near Cocoa Beach that my High School team went to instead of the absurdly expensive condos we stay in. I'd love to spend less of my money on where I'm staying, and more of my time in the ocean.
On the plus side, the resort we stay at has a walkway that extends a good 50 feet or so out into the shallows, so sometimes there's some good activity going on around the rocks and the mangrove roots. Apparently there's also the slim chance that there will be some manatees in the channel leading to the resort's marina, but I haven't seen any.

its because i was searching for posts on forums of anemone recovery and i wanted some imput on mine so i created an account to post

and ya i aquired him for free so i thought maybe i could save it. after about 4 days of feedings he seems to be doing a little better. there is noticeable change and the tentacles are slightly larger. his cloumn has a litttle more tan now too! crazy how resilient they are
