Red Bug Treatment

Yes, I will not put another piece of coral in my system without a good hard dip first, but that is still not a guarantee that something won't find your way in. The bayer insecticide dip sounds promising for new acquisitions, but it sounds like it is not available in Canada. Glad to hear things are looking promising!

Keep a VERY close eye out for AEFW. I have read and had it happen to me- after treating for redbugs, the AEFW begin to reproduce and cause havoc.

I THINK I was able to nip it in the bud. threw out 4 frags, dipped and scraped and monitored 2 more acros. Used a laser to kill eggs, kalk to smother the encrusted parts of some infected acros. And I THINK I might have caught it early enough before the rest of my acros got infected.

I think this was because I was almost expecting the aefw to appear and VERY closely monitored the tank. I took pictures (preferrably with a macro lens if you have) daily and looked not for the worms but the small round bite marks they leave behind and their eggs at the base of the corals.

hopefully you'll never have to deal with them. :)

I will take my dipping for sake. Got lazy got redbugs lesson learned

Good to hear that things look okay.
In my experience, dipping alone is not an effective method of keeping AEFW or redbugs out of your display. A true quarantine is the only way to fully know that new additions aren't harboring pests.
I'm not saying that dips are totally ineffective, just that a series of steps is needed to eliminate pest transfer.

It isn't as simple as dip it and never worry about bugs. There are tons of us on here who have gone down that route and have gotten burned.

How did this turn out? Looks like Interceptor will not be back according to my vet. I use that to dip all my corals.
