Started 120gal tank in Sept 2007. Started noticing small, red, fuzzy-looking dots on overflows. Dots have recently moved to liverock. They do no seem mobile and do not scrape off easily. Tried cutting back light cycle, which did not do anything. Water parameters are all zeroes, but nitrates are at 5ppm. Algae? Beginning of coraline? Pictures included to help identify. Please help.

could be the start of tiny featherdusters. Are they white? and circular looking with a fuzzy read head?

I just want to make sure that it's nothing bad harmfully invasive. Could it be the beginning of a bad algae?

Are there any types of red algae that look like this and are harmful, or does it appear to be just corraline?

There are other red algaes that are not desirable...But, what you've got there is coraline.
