Red Gigantea's are Super Sensitive- Myth or True?

I live in Asia and blue and purple gigs are very common here , but haddoni are very less. Not sure why

Interesting. Do you find the locals have a difficult time with them? Are they pretty common with hobbyists to keep them with ease over there? Or do they die easily over there too?

My understanding is that many of the blue and purple gigs are coming from Vietnam, though they are also located in other parts of the world. If the ones you see are coming from Vietnam, then it's a relatively short trip. If the haddoni are coming from somewhere like Indonesia, then the trip is obviously longer. Just conjecture here.

Gigs are more sensitive then haddoni. All the gigs arrive very healthy here, probably because it's just a short trip. Even from Indo is just 4 hours plane flight. We have some haddonis here, but just the normal colours like grey green , brown , dark green, but they have it maybe once in 2-3 months and just 1 or 2.

We have gigs here almost every month except in the summer time, because there is a lot of typhoons in summer time by Indo and Philippine . We never had blue and purple haddonis here. But I asked my lfs to ask the wholesaler if he can get me 1.

Maybe your right. Vietnam to HK is just 2 1/2 hours and Indo to HK is 4, but most of our live stocks here come from Indo

I also asked them why we don't have sunburst bta here and they told me that they sell it all to japan, because they can sell it for a much higher price there.

This place is full of gigs and nobody that buy it . If there is a haddoni and it will be gone in 1 hour.

Just for kicks, I just today saw under my Red Haddoni after about at least 6 months not seeing it. When I first got him 1 year ago, to the day, there were no verrucae. Now he there are dark red/purple verrucae.

hybrids

hybrids

I get very skeptical when someone calls something a hybrid in this hobby.

It happens in the case of fish more often. Sometimes fish show up with abberant pattern and immediately it is called a hybrid.

I have seen many haddonis with a verracruce but only when they get larger. It is possible that there is a hybrid gigantea/haddoni but without genetic testing its not a 100 slam dunk

There are plenty of clear cut natural hybrids of angels and tangs. Certaily there are plenty of fertile clowns hybrids.
I am not 100% certain that my green anemone is a Haddoni/Gigantea hybrid, but if I can do genetic testing, I would be very suprised if that test does not show that he is Haddoni/Gigantea hybrid.

That Red carpet above is a haddoni all the way.

Anyone who says that they can immediately tell the difference between haddoni and gigantea haven't looked at enough of them. It sounds odd, but the reason I say this is because there are many haddoni with longer tentacles and bumps that looks like verrucae and many more gigantea with very short tentacles and faded verrucae.

For the record, haddonis have verrucae, they just aren't always immediately obvious, and are a different shape and pattern than those of S. gigantea. They are non-adhesive and are only on the upper half of the column. They are also always the same color as the column - sometimes lighter or slightly darker but always the same color.

Show me a S. gigantea that you can't see verrucae on :)
