Red macro ID help

tektite

I never finish anyth
Got this macro but haven't been able to ID it. Its very stiff, new growth tips are light pink if under bright lighting, under lower lighting it stays bright red throughout and doesn't branch out as much.

I'm just guessing off of pictures I've seen but the first thing to pop in my head is pink galaxy. Another googled thread I found listed galaxaura rugosa as an image search. From the thread it sounded like Jania spp. and Amhpiroa spp. might look similar. It was John Maloney who replied with this so those are the genus I'd look into first.

It looks really nice though whatever it is.

No, definitely not pink galaxy, I've had some of that in the past. The others you mentioned don't quite sound like it either. It grows pretty stiff but not calcified.

dont know but i want it. very nice piece. is it a branching coraline?

No, its not calcified, not coralline algae.

You always have the coolest macro's! It looks kind of like a more rigid version of nemastoma to me. Maybe it's related?

Looks like some sort of Eucheuma sp. You have it growing in a very good condition. Let me know if you plant on getting rid of any.

All the eucheuma I've seen is more spiky, are there types that have smooth round tips like mine? It is stiff like eucheuma though, even a little more so.

Not scinaia, similar growth structure but too stiff. That Ahnfeltiopsis looks promising though, that might be it. Thanks!
