Red Monti actually a Cap?

Just covering all of my bases for a bleaching project I'm doing :) Are red montipora (plate type) corals without a doubt Montipora capricornus? I got mine from an aquarist in the area, but the growth pattern doesn't seem to meet the descriptions in Vernon's "Corals of the World". Also, does anyone know where I can get a WILD cap?

i dont think they are capricornis, even the green ones are usually m. foliosa, i believe alot of the red/orange ones are m. hodgesoni, ive had a brown/orange whorling montipora that was m. florida even, if you are doing a bleaching project is that so you can match the skeleton to vernon's book? thats pretty cool if so.

Thanks, I'll pursue a more accurate ID then (I'll post some close up pictures of a piece of the colony later). I currently have a captive colony that I've been doing bleaching tollerance tests on, but to confirm my tests definitively I need to compare my results to another example of the same species :)

i believe montiporas are more difficult to identify to species than acroporas.
