Local LFS suggest bulb changes every 6 months. Recently here the discussion indicated 9-12 months. What should we look for to know when it's time to change them in the RSM?

Can anyone tell me whythe Sliver RSM is so much cheaper then the Black one? I have been looking at the two and they look the same to am i missing anything?
Thanks
Jason

There should be no difference in the price of the Max black or silver. With regards posting, I personally find it hard to find all the Max threads

usually a fair price on used goods is half retail, but that is just a rule of thumb and can certainly vary. Or I find this to usually be a good selling price.

I picked up the first prototype skimmer for the Red Sea Max 130D (RSM) from Sapphire Aquatics today and as always his work is amazing.

Wont have time to install it tonight but tomorrow this bad boy is going in to start the break in process. This thing is huge! Here are some teaser shots.

I have it propped up against my 120 reef to give you an idea of how big it is, and yes the chamber for it in the RSM is that big!

Keep in mind that this is the prototype not the final production model I'm helping to test it and see if there are any tweaks needed before its ready for ordering. Believe it or not but Kyle already decided it can be a whole inch taller :o

Enjoy,

Installed the skimmer today. Awesome job by Kyle. The skimmer for the 250 should be a monster!

The two skimmers side by side - didn't think about putting the RSM factory skimmer out ther until I was done :(

New Skimmer installed with hood closed - almost a perfect fit. Shouldn't take much tweaking to get this bad boy to production

Regards,

Im looking to buy a rsm 33 gal. My friend has a large tank as well as a 20 gal nano and he has problems with his temp running high. Does anyone have problems with temps and what is the average temp that you should have? Does everyone like and suggest to purchase a rsm? thanks.

It really depends on what you want to do with your tank and what you want to keep. Had I had a chance to do it all again as the owner of the RSM 130D, I would have spent my money on a regular tank with a good skimmer, overflow, true T5 lighting and/or LEDs, and sump/refugium. Don't get me wrong, I like the RSM but I see me upgrading within a year or two of owning it.

While I'm also constantly considering to upgrade, I usually delay because realizing how much I do not know. Plus must factor in the added cost.

The skimmer looks very interesting. How can it be taller if the lid will not close at the current height?

An improved skimmer would do wonders.

Keep all of us informed on the progress and if it is an improvement.

Thanks

The pictured skimmer is not the factory skimmer, it was an older model sapphire skimmer that I was using. I need to get a picture next to the factory skimmer which is pretty much the same height.

I'm on the second BETA right now with a few minor tweaks I should have the pre-production model by the end of the week. Sapphire is also testing a new mesh wheel on the next release :D
