If you guys could only go for one day, which day would it be Saturday or Sunday or are they both the same?

It all depends on what you are going for. If you want the latest and greatest 'LE' corals, go early Saturday and bring a lot of $.

If you want the best deals but not the best selection, go Sunday and wait until an hour before the show closes when most drop their prices to sell fast so they don't have to take them home.

I am going Sunday myself because I am past the phase of collecting the latest LE corals. I just buy what catches my eye at a reasonable price regardless of the name or lineage.

Saturday has more corals... vendors will save some good ones for Sunday but a lot will be sold already. Sunday night, vendors are more open to deals because they want to get rid of them all.

and I have horrible luck in raffles as well...

:lolspin: That's a good one. 8 bulbs. If you supplement that with your high end film related lighting then should be growing acros from booger size frags into colonies in days not year.

i've only had one other tank before this so I don't have tons of experience with acros but the growth is unbelievable. I got a strawberry shortcake frag that went from almost fresh cut to encrusting the whole frag disc in about one month.

I was thinking about adding a radion but i've got no room above the tank lol

Try an ATI true actinic bulb or a Giesemann actinic bulb if you want some pop with T5. Reefbrite may be a good option too if you want to add LEDs. May be a little cheaper than Radion.

ive got one ati actinic, 5 blue plus and 2 ati purps on there now. i was thinking about switching one of the purps out with a whiter bulb for more balance but i get nice pop now just the tank is really blue. i got the bulb combo by searching around on the internet. a few people used this combo and had really fast growth. it seems to be true in my case as well. i just want the radion to add adimming/ramping for dusk and dawn. or i could get an ati dimmable... lol. i need to get an apex tho, i think thats my next purchase.

I ran 5 blue 2 purple and 1 actinic same as you. This time round I tried 5 blue, 1 purple 1 coral 1 actinic. I don't see much difference in color.

next step for me is to add my Kessil 150s without killing the simple ATI light look. I'll use Kessils to ramp

Hijacking the official RAP thread

You would need the 160s to ramp up/down since the 150s are noncontrollable. Plus, even 160s may not make that much of a difference since the ATI is too strong and will wash out the Kessil. I had two 360s running along side the ATI 8 bulbs and didn't see much until the Kessil was cranked up all the way past 70%. Plus I had to mount the 360s toward the front of the tank to notice any shimmers.

I've used a bunch of other T5s but hands down, nothing beats ATI. I've seen the ATI Hybrid on a few tanks and it's a beast of a light. Drooled every time :bigeyes:

have you tried the 150 deep ocean blue? it looks much darker than the 360 at 100% blue setting. I'll test out the combo in a month when the setup completes. the 150 will be on when ATI starts ramping.

360 with ATI.. that sounds like a lot of lights. lol.. I better start a new thread when the time comes instead of derailing this one more..

i plan to get a few corals from alldelight and jrpdriver. They always have super nice frags! I hope Jason Fox brought those chalices I requested. Nobody touches my JF UFO chalice

Tony, if you're looking for chalices, go to BSA Corals and try to get there early
