Regal Angel Primer

I still have a nodule on my regals fin from lymph. He's eating very well and I do regular water changes on the qt tank. He eats spirulina enriched brine shrimp soaked in garlic. I was thinking of trying some maricyn quick cure but not sure if that will help any. He was due to go in the display tank next week but I want to make sure this is cleared up before he goes in.

If you're sure it's Lymph then it could take months to clear. Meds won't help... there is a reference to Visine in one disease book I have working to cure Lymph on a French or Koran (can't remember which, no matter it was a angel) There is a active ingredient in Visine the attributed to this. I apologize, I'm on vacation and don't have to book in front of me. If anyone has this book https://www.amazon.com/Marine-Fish-Health-Feeding-Handbook/dp/1890087955 you can reference what I'm referring to.

Right now he is my only fish. The display is fallow. Should I put him in the display in hopes of better water quality and less stress will help it clear faster or should I keep him in at until it clears?

It is on the very edge of the fin. I red though that just because that's where you see the module doesn't mean that's the only place the infection is. That it is all over the fish. I am by no means an expert and have no idea though that's why I'm posting on here. I might just try scraping it off and seeing if any more grow.

Lymphocystis is a viral infection. The nodules you see are actually cells of the fish that were infected and kind of expanded like a balloon. So what you see is the infected area.
The only thing you might not see is if there are infected cells on internal organs - that would also be the most dangerous locations which could lead to death.

Second regal

Second regal

I got my second regal 2 days ago, after the first one died within 24 hours, the fist one did not look the best, i shouldt have gottent him, but this time I got the second one from a nother store in NJ Azure Aquatics!!! Nice store big selection of healthy fish, I got a Red Sea regal for $85, defiantly a healthy looking fish active and better then the 1st one, but this time have put him in my refugium with sand rock and algae, so no one will bother him, question is for how long to keep him there, so far the clams on a shell that I have put in he did not touch, but I have seen him nip on rock and other things in the sump.

Just hope that in my sump witch is the old MegaFlow4 witch the 1st large section of it I have made into a refugium, he will be comfterbal.

I can't help with the reference but I did want to say thank you for posting the book link and information. I've never seen it before but purchased a copy today. It looks like a good book to have. Just wanted to say thank you.

How long did it take for your Regal to start on your zoos? Does your Regal prefer larger polyps or smaller polyps, or all polyps? I have hundreds of zoos, although I wouldnt mind if my Regal grazed on them - especially the ones growing close to sps. That is a beautiful regal btw.

My 2.75" Bali Regal seems to ignore all zoas - what is killing them in that tank is the monster crispa.

My 3" Philippine Regal likes to harrass the large green polyps by nipping on their tentacles, but seems to have little to no interest in the smaller more colorful zoas. Most of them out of his reach in too shallow water anyway.

My other Regals are in tanks without zoas.

Larger Regals I had in the past were all equal opportunity offenders who would go after all polyps, zoas and soft corals with gusto.

I just picked up 2 new regals. A 5" male yellow belly and a 4" female grey belly. They are in quarantine with a 3" deepwater male coral beauty and a trio of multibanded angels. The goal is to group the two new regals with the 1.5" juvenile in my display.

Picked one up a few weeks ago. Fish was glancing on the rocks and had long stringy poop so treated with prazi pro. Sure enough the Regal was loaded with flukes. Did another prazi treatment a couple days ago. Hopefully the intestinal parasite is no longer. Haven't seen stringy poop or any poop for that matter since fish isn't eating well.
First day I got the fish it ate frozen brine and nori. Second day it had demolished a few zoa frags. Now all it will eat is frozen brine, no longer interested in the Nori. Yesterday I gave the fish a couple zoa frags to nibble on and both were gladly accepted. Here it is today eating a clam on the halfshell. I introduced some invasive encrusting blue sponge and a couple sea squirts that angel seems to have no interest in. Luckily I have quite a few zoa frags to feed and it's accepting clam on the halfshell. Will be a happy reefer the day it accepts pellets if that ever happens, guess time will tell..

Hi, I have seen an adult Regal at a LFS that looks stunning. He has been there for more than a month and is eating frozen and PELLETS! He just gobbles them up! I am really tempted to give it a go. What are your views?

I currently have a mixed Reef system with about 200 gallons. It is 7 foot long by 22inch wide by 24 inch high.

I always quarantine and prophylactic treat all my fish before adding to the tank, with Prazi Pro and than Cupramine.

Recommendations?

I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Follow your quarantine regiment, sounds good to me (very similar to what I do) and the mixed reef sounds like a perfect home. Just be prepared for some corals to get munched on.

Thanks! What is your experience in terms of sensitivity to cupramine? How long and at what level do you run cupramine?

Thanks again!

I run copper sulfate from A&M aquatics. I bring the reading to 0.25. I also use hypo. 2 weeks of hypo, 2 weeks prazi, 2 weeks copper, 2 weeks observation.
