Removing maxima ?

I have a 3" maxima that's been attached to a rock for about 9 months. I'm selling the tank and need to remove him but he won't budge. How do I safely get him off?

Take a sharp knife or razor blade and cut the byssal threads as far away from the clam as possible. The byssal threads are like our hair and fingernails the clam won't feel it. If you pull the clam free you risk killing it.

Also sometimes if you angle their rock so that it is bearing less of their weight they will let go on their own.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm gonna try to cut the byssal thread carefully and see how it goes.

I tryed the take the whole rock trick but it's a very large piece and she only wants the clam.
