Replaced Wetside on MP40

Grizzled & Cynical
Although I generally scoff at the official recommendation to replace vortech wetsides every 18 months, there is no question that efficiency falls as the parts wear. Just replaced the wetside on my oldest MP40 (Dec 2012) with the newer version and it has made a major difference to the flow - how much is wear and how much a better design I cannot say. I have a total of eight across the three models, and this is the first wetside I have had to replace (other than an MP10 bought used that came knowingly as having been abused).

i replaced one of mine about a year ago. it was an older model with the different style of wet side. it had also developed an annoying wobble due to some fatigue in the bearing.

in addition to being considerably quieter, it also did seem to move a larger amount of water. that might be somewhat due to the redesigned shape, and also probably helped by the fact that the new one ran correctly. no propeller wobble.

18 months isn't too far off for the *ideal* replacement schedule. i think i pushed mine a little over the 2 year mark, and it was getting annoying noisy.
