HI everyone,

My IM 10 Nuvo tank been up for 2 years. I think something been built up in the sand. So I am planning to remove all the sand in the tank and replace it with a new bag of live sand. The tank only have corals and live rocks in.

Do you think if this is appropriate to do this? Or should I just put the new live sand in a bucket and raise for sometime?...not sure what I need to do. Hope you can help.

Thank you.

I'd slowly remove the sand so to not shock the system. Then replace sand. I just put up a 8 gallon without sand. Still debating sand just for looks.

I disagree im assuming you me there is detritus in your tank but taking it all out even slowly is like taking out a huge amount of biological filtration. Even in larger tanks it seams to cause all kinds of algea problems i think the outcome would be worse with a nano. Just systematically clean your existing sand every water change so you slowly remove the detritus and dont remove your filtration. at the very least if you replace your current sand use live sand to replace it with and maybe dose some bacteria.
