I super glued the receding tissue to the exposed skeleton. If you look closely you will see little pieces of flesh that are loose. It has been receding so fast that the flesh has not attached itself to the skeleton. If you don't glue it down, any flow will tear it and cause more damage.

Ok, I've got my fingers crossed. I'm trying your three step dip. I went to work today and found this guy. Last week it was truly amazing. We were selling it for over $100. I got it for $15. It has receded into the inner disc, but still has one mouth. Here is the insecticide I got, I hope it works. What else do you suggest?

Yikes, yeah, I can tell that was a beautiful trachy! If you did all three dips and superglued it...it looks about like the others I've managed to rescue.
I haven't used that version of Bayer - the "germ killer" makes me nervous using it on corals. This is what I've used (Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer): http://www.reefdup.com/2012/09/02/bayer-coral-dip/
@Motish - Super glue was developed as a "bandaid" of sorts for human injuries. It works wonders on corals that have tissue loose from the skeleton. Without it, the tissue could flap around in the current and become further injured. It helps speed the coral reattaching to the skeleton and growing back over it.

This one looks like a goner IMO.... Either way goodluck man! This would be quite the transformation.

maybe its just the pic, but that torch looks more like a frogspawn. i know we got a torch in this week, turned out to be a frogspawn, supplier mislabeled it or sent the wrong thing. but they didnt even have any frogs listed on their inventory *shrug. either way, good luck

Here is a baby duncan that was damaged by the person I bought it from, trying to frag it. I bought it still, as a challenge to bring it back. The pic below is it after a 2 hours in my tank.
Here is an updated pic for this little guy. It took him long enough, but he has come around. He is very happy now.

There is actualy 3 Elegance here. The middle one I thought for sure was a goner. White as new driven snow about three months ago and spewing up zoozantheleia like crazy. Looking good now. The Baby on the left is now two corals as there is a dead patch in the middle. Don't you wish we could do that? Anyhow; that is todays contribution. I normally stock my tanks with stuff nobody wants. Everything has potential...
How soon is it to consider a rescue? The LFS I go to has a half bleached trachy of some sort that I keep eyeing, and the coral guy said he'd cut me a pretty good discount on it. Thing is it looks like it might be trying to recede a bit around the base on one side, and my tank JUST finished the main part of the cycle. I hit 0 for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate within the week. I have other corals in the tank, but no fish or hermits yet(just some hitchhiking xanthid and gorilla crabs that I'm trying to catch.)
Would it be too soon to consider bringing it home with me? About all I know about it right now is that he said the tank it is in is pretty high in dissolved nutrients, so he's only tried feeding it once, and it didn't take the food.

Just wanted to update everyone on the weslo brain coral rescue. Its been just over a month and while theres still somerecovering to do its come a long way. Its grown back a good portion of its missing tissue and has gotten more than half its color back. These two photos were snapped just as i fed it and about five minutes after that. Let me know what you think thanks -gregHeres one i got in my tank on march 22nd. It was my brothers and it was once beautiful but he neglected his tank for so long and after weeks of begging and pleading he finally let me try to save it. Ill give updates every few weeks its already perked up quite a bit in the week ive had it. If you look close at the bottom right there is a one inch are where there is zero tissue completely exposing the skeleton. Obviously the rest of the tissue is not far from that point as you can see the skeleton completely through the skin all over the poor thing. Wish me luck
