Unfortunately, dripping kalk, or topping off with kalk is going the way of the dodo bird in this hobby. Which is a shame really because when set up correctly the benefits completely outweigh the risks.
We could talk about buffing parameters, elevating pH from neutral, the added benefits of phosphate "control", etc, etc, etc. And then someone comes in with "Kalk Nuked My Tank", and everyone goes running for the doors. It's been this way since kalkwasser went main stream ten years ago. Even some well received hobbyists on these forums are afraid to add this feature to their systems.
If you drip it at night to control pH, or use it to top off the tank, along with a controller (or litermeter), and a little maintenance, you'll be happy.....kalk is one of those "x factors" in this hobby, that just appears to work.
