ok.. i have not used revive that often.. i had some corals that i recently obtained that needed a dip.. i acclimated the sps as usual.. drip method for two hours or more.. then did a dip in the revive.. 8 cap fulls for two gallons of water per the directions. (4 caps for one gallon)

dipped for about 8 min.

placed in tank water bucket for a few minuites to rinse of the dip residue. than placed in tank..

about an hour later.. noticed the yellow sps lost what seems to be the outer skin of the coral. the floresnece was all gone.. others tolerated ok

Revive can be a harsh dip. I usually dip the smooth skin acros for just a min. or two, otherwise they don't handle it too well. Other acros get the full dip without problems. Hopefully your yellow acro will recover. Didn't happen to be a smooth skin, deepwater acro?

I have also had horrible results with any smooth skin acros ( bayer). I've gotten to the point where I cut off the base and put it into my frag tank for observation after losing the first 2 after dipping.. I've only had a total of 3 smooth skinned acros but the only one living is the one I didn't dip fwiw.. Def don't recommend not dipping but that's what I did..

yep.. and the horrible thing is.. i did a search for a half hour and nothing really came up to say.. careful ect. oh well now there is..

Yeah, smooth skinned don't handle dips so well.
The fluorescent green ones lose the fluorescence, but it does return.....

hmm.. ok.. time will tell if it comes back.. these were more on the yellow side.. i llike the tri color tang in your photo

update.. they survived .. came back.. but no longer yellow. more greenish.. which most likely would have happened either way..

I would love to get hold of Bayer, but its not sold in the UK. Anyone want to ship a bottle out to me? :D

FWIW I have always used Revive because its readily available in the UK. I also happen to use it at double the strength for most acros...but with smooth skinned acros as long as I've followed the instructions and dont dip for more than a few minutes, I've not lost anything.

Here is my Echinata (I think) that I dipped only about 8-9 days ago. Its colouring up every day too. No issue at all from the dip:

I've never used Bayer, so in all likelihood it might be a less harsh dip, but Revive has always worked fine for me.

Way to harsh. I done with revive. Just threw it away. Killed two Aussie frags that I just threw away. I used half the recommended dose. For five minutes.
