Hey, I do what I can do, when I can do it. :D

Did you make a few light passes over the flange until there was no gray left? Was the black fusion a matte finish paint?

Hey Paul, the fusion black paint comes in gloss and matte finish. Light coats were the game plan however, Rob went trigger happy on the first few. Once he finally read the instructions he then continued by spraying light coats just until the bulkheads were just coated.

Are you concerned about scraping paint off of the bulkheads?

It actually sealed good Paul. It looks like everything came black in the first place.

Tim will get some pics up tomorrow.

Not really, just didnt want to overapply causing any change in the diameters of the nozzles and bulkheads.

I knew Bubble Kings were expensive, but I've never seen them installed in a vault before. Is the door to keep you in or others out??

Sounds good guys. I'm placing an order for Sch 80 bulkheads soon from Savko. I'll pick up some of that Krylon Fusion.
Paul, they are heavy duty, thick gasket. Don't expect them to leak! Make sure you go with sch 80

HAHA! I guess you could say it is meant to serve a dual purpose.;)

Allright, here are some pics of my custom drain and CL intake strainers. I bought a PVC transition piece and machined it down to minimize its height. I added holes in the side to help draw more water on the intake. Also, I made the strainer plates from acrylic and CNC machined and drilled complete.

Hey Tim, those really look good. Did't realize that you planned on going bare bottom with this tank. You shouldn't have any problems keeping detritus suspended.

I assume the strainers are just press fit so you can remove them easily for cleaning.

As of lately the BB look has grown on me. I thought it would be best suited for me with the amount of flow I intend on having.

Yes, the large intake strainer was made removable.

BB is way cleaner! 3 months later you are not stuck with dirty sand that you can't clean. And you can really push the flow! Corals and fish will benefit from that

the only problem i have found with BB besides the whole "natural look" is that corals you but on the glass slide around from the flow

I guess that can come into play. Depends where you put them. But most places in the great barrier reef don't even have sand. Its rock, fish and coral. So I think its a natural look with BB

Nice work on the strainer... done by you or was this special from Paul??
Ed, Tim custom built them. What are you doing for your closed loop intake?
