Thanks mcliffy. Yeah I know, I have been slacking lately! Actually I want to thank you for the idea of installing the tracks to the ceiling for my pendant. I am actually CNC machining two tracks as we speak. Rob and I plan on installing it tonight so I will surely post some pics tonight. Also I have got about 8 Brute garbage cans full of RO water ready for mixing which will be pumped into the display sometime saturday. So, tonight I will make up for my irresponsible behaviour of not posting any pics these past few days! ;) As for Ed, no comment.:p

No problem - I got the idea from wmilas. I just used ones from HD, so can't wait to see how your custom job comes out.

Tim has done good job on all the custom equipment he has made for the build. I guess its nice to have access to million dollar machines... That works!

Now that Tim's build is almost ready to go! That means I can start mine!

Here it is, My Rimless AO tank. 245 gallon

Thats because his tank has just been an empty wall ornament (as seen in the pic) for the past half year. I think he is getting his build started in the next couple of weeks.......or maybe longer depending on how long it takes to remove all the dust that has accumulated on it!

Ok, I get it! I have taken my time...or just been too lazy!

But yes, Its in the works now and going up! I will start a build thread in the next week or 2.

The BK SM250 is here now and will get it this weekend. Other than that I have everything else ready to go.

Thanks for the motivation Paul! I need it! HaHa

I am just at Tim's place now getting ready to hang the Sfilogoi on its new custom sliding rails. And Tim is mixing 400 gallons of salt water right now in brute garbage cans. :mixed:

Anyways should have progress pics a little later for Tim's. 2 more days and its full with water and rock!!!

Floor Reinforcement

Floor Reinforcement

Well I decided its better to be safe than sorry and reinforced my family room floor. I figured I will sleep better doing so. After calculating the amount of weight the full tank would be I came to realize that it was the equivalent of a mid size car. The last I checked, homes werent built to support automobiles, especially the way they build new homes these days. I think I made the right decision.

I also decided to drill the holes through the floor for the return, drains and power lines to be run to the fish room.

Rails

Rails

I just completed the machining and installation of my rails for my Sfiligoi 12 bulb. I incorporated a slot to allow for a total of 14 inches of movement back and forwards. This will now allow me to position the light correctly above the tank as well as enable movement of the fixture for maintenance. A few shots:

Now that a beauty of a rail??? Simply beautiful !!

Thanks Ed. I am so glad I did this. It has given me the versatility I needed.

With that crazy machine of yours, I'm surprise you didn't make your own Sfilgoi lighting fixture?? :p

Wiring

Wiring

I decided to run the lighting's power cables through the wall which then will be connected to extension cords under the tank and run to the Aquatronica down in the fishroom.

Hmmmmmmmmm!?!? Please dont give me any ideas. I already promised the wife that this was the last project till this winter. And I have Rob on me to make him intakes and drains and as of tonight it looks like I will be stuck making him a set of rails for him as well. However, the idea of making a light fixture has got my creative juices flowing already!;)

You are going to get me in trouble! Its so funny because prior to setting up this tank, I was in the middle of building an acrylic chandelier for the front foyer of my house. It is so ridiculous paying $2000 for a light when I could make one for a fraction of that. Perhaps on my next tank!

On a more serious note (project hint hint) what type system are you planning to run on yours??

Robb is running a zeovit system?? Are you as well?? Don't see you having nay zeovit reactor around so not sure??

:p
