RO/DI Q's

1. I have a Kent Marine 4stage Hi-S, no pressure regulator. When connected to the hose there is a high pitch hum going through the pipes in the house, almost like there is pressure in the pipes that wants to be released. When I turn on a facuet while the RODI is running, the pitch goes away.

Anyone experience the high pitch hum?
Anyway to reduce the noise?

2. I have a TDS meter, Hanna hand held. The source is 115 and the output is 1. Are these typical readings?

3. If the TDS reading is above 3, then I would replace the micron filter. Would the TDS meter give any indication when to change the carbon filter?

Thanks
Doug

The TDS meter tells you when to replace the RO membrane and the DI resin not the prefilter or carbon block. You always change those at 6 months intervals regardless of usage. One way to help tell the condition of the pre and carbon is with a pressure gauge before the membrane, when you experience a significant pressure drop from your original reading its time to change them even if its less than 6 months.
If your tap is 115 you should be seeing about 2 or 3 tops from the RO only without DI and 0 after DI.

Does the spigot have a hose bib vacuum breaker/backflow device screwed on to it? I know whenever I use a hose nozzle on my outsdie bibs with breakers on them they squeal and vibrate when the nozzle is off or flowing slowly.
