Rod's Gyre flow, Natural light, SPS dominated Reef

Ok Marc, here it is;

As I say, it's 2mm.

Whoa, sorry everyone for not updating sooner, life's been out of control lately!!

Well, it was a long hard road, but I stuck it out and 10 weeks have long past since the dreaded Crypto arrived.

The tank is looking great. A spell without fish has really done wonders for the pod/mysid populations. I've put in my new Aqua Depot 14,000k bulbs today and it looks crisp blue/white.

The fish are back in and loving it!!

I know you want pics, so here ya go;

Wow, the tank is looking great! Thanks for the update. :thumbsup:

Are you using any red spotlights or bulbs to highlight some of the corals?

Thanks everyone! :)

Thanks Sunny, I'm running ATI Blue Plus, ATI Pro Color, KZ Fiji Purple and ATI Actinic. It's probably the Pro Color that's making the difference with the reds. (Second from the bottom in this pic)

Your system is absolutley brilliant, I love the idea of using natural light, maybe one day I will join that club

You wont regret it!! Once it's set up, it continues to supply free sunshine every day. (And moon light) :D

Wow awesome tank build! I love that your using the natural light, great for if you ever have a power outage. I'm sure it's added some great coloration to your SPS and clams. Can we get some shots of your flow outflow in your tank? You did such a great job hiding all those tubes that were sticking out originally. I'd like to see how you hid them so well :)

Thanks. The natural light is just sensational. During summer the Sola Tubes have been compared to 1000w Mh's. :D

Not sure what you mean by "flow outflow". Happy to try to get some pics for you.

You're welcome to drop by and have a look. :rollface:

WOW!!! Awesome colors......I knew I should have added a Pro Color to my T5 combo.

Still can!! :dance:

I have definitely been asleep at the wheel - I don't know how I managed to miss this fantastic thread! Just read the whole thing! To say I'm impressed is insufficient! Great planning and better execution. I love the combination of solar tubes, MH, and T5s. And such beautiful corals! Outstanding! Definitely TOTM material.

I'm glad you successfully got the Ich episode behind you. I know what a trial that can be. In any case I won't be missing any further updates. :D

Thanks guys. :D

Would you believe I have had more than one offer to buy Stag Island??

Yep, Ich problems are definitely behind me.

I now QT EVERYTHING.

Fish QT on the left, coral on the right.

And a nifty idea to feed the fish without having to lift the lid.
