Rod's Reef and his idea of so-called "Customer Service"

Friday:

Me: "Hi, Rod - you around? I'm about 5 minutes out, it's about 6:15. I just wanted to "drop by" and pick up a thing or two" :bounce2:

Rod: "err...hmmm...OK...but I *gotta* be outta here by 7. :worried:

(I think it over, highway exit is closed)

Me: "Hm...well, you could drop XYZ items outside and leave them on my credit card if you'd like, or I can come back another time..."

Rod: "err..hmmm...would you mind if I did it another time? I won't have time to before I leave. I don't want sound like a complete ****off, but My brother's cancer just got worse, and (several details omitted on this post intentionally) I just need to meet him and get over there... :worried2:

Is he for real?

Poll:

a) How many of you would have picked up the phone?
b) How many people would be patient enough to juggle customers while worried about your ill brother?
c) How many of you think Rod would be a ****off for "not being available" since he has to meet his brother?

Too bad Rod's bend is corals and not I.T. I know of a $12B company that could use Rod's talents in customer service.

The bad news in all this is that his attitude just encouraged me to spend more of my paycheck yet again with him instead of the local LFS.

Anyone else want to follow my lead when he gets back? :D

Re: Rod's Reef and his idea of so-called "Customer Service"

I don't understand this post. Is Rod bad or good? Is this a complaint or a praising?

Cancer is a serious thing. I hope his brother is ok. IMO I wouldn't have even brought this up. Not a good subject buddy.

Praising, Rod will always be there to help, at least it is what makes me feel. There was a group of locals planning to take a trip down to his place on Saturday and Rod knew at the last minute he could not be there. He took the time to contact each one about the situation.

And he posted it here knowing it could cause problem which luckily it did not.We would all be at a GREAT LOSS with out him on this Board

Umm, yah...glbtrottr, your title and initial message initially seemed negative, when I read it.

Rod Rules. Menard Rules.

"Umm, yah...glbtrottr, your title and initial message initially seemed negative, when I read it."

But it sure did get your attention and make you want to see what the post was all about :) .

Sarcastic? Hardly! Rod's a fabulous guy. His definition of customer service based on everything we've ever transacted, talked about, or done is so far out of anything I can imagine.

Rod happens to have a lot of friends that he does business with. I find that remarkable.

People buy from people they like and trust.

Rod goes way above the call of duty - always - regardless of how busy he is.

My post, my title, intent fairly plain. I'm a big Rod fan - generally a hard and demanding customer.

I understand the title was just a attention getter after reading his post but to me it isnt something to really joke about. Rod's a great guy and had a real family crisis come up and was still worried about makeing sure none of his customers were affected by it. Something most people wouldnt think twice about. I hope everything goes well with his brother and give my best wishes to both. The title really needs to be edited just for the fact that its going to get people that know whats going on instantly on the defensive and keyed up.

I know I was ready to come out swinging. The intent of the title is not plain at all. Nor was the message, until I read it three times. And I teach writing (though I acknowledge this may be part of the problem :D ).

Can someone pleas tell how can I contact Rod to buy some of his famous food?

Until Rod gets back, I would recommend Premium Aquatics for Rod's food.
