Ron Popeils Dual Clownfish-o-matic!

I love your crispa. With that anemone, I don't think the tank is boring. I would just try to grow it out a little more so it's wall-to-wall anemone.

Gary, I've been at Ron's place when it stretched from pane to pane in it's 24" cube. It's not boring, but if it gets any bigger it'll look vacuum packed in there.

I don't think it look boring either. I think it is super nice, especially with such a striking Crispa.
Ron, are the magnifica the same anemones from the beginning? I did not notice the color before.

minh, around the beginning of this thread i believe there were four magnificas in this tank. i removed two, but the purple based one has been with me since the beginning.

at the beginning of this thread, the lighting for this system was a 400w radium. then in may of last year i switched to two AI Sols. i ran these for over a year before reverting back to a 250w radium. no real issues with the LEDs, growth was good. color was satisfactory. but i think i am much more satisfied with the halide.

i just need a few more choice SPS colonies and i will return to be satisfied with the look of the 60 gallon. as for the 45 gallon, now that the tricinctus are spawning, i wont make any more changes in their tank. my goal however, since the crispa is so incredibly large, is to introduce their fry once they are several months old back into this tank. i think the anemone is big enough and the parents mild enough that they could hide effectively but still be a part of the biotope. fingers crossed.

I am doing the same. My Gigantea are so huge that adding 6 babies back into the tank is Ok. The parent chase them around a littel but with 6 of them, there no real injury

Still drooling over that crispa. I have one that was a rescue from almost two years ago. I like them as much, possibly more than my mags. Just love all the mop of tentacles they have. Mine is the tannish gray. Would love to have a colorful one like yours. I read an earlier post where it can reach across your 24 inch tank. That's fantastic. If I had that tank I would keep it as it is forever. It will look stunning with a grouping of tricinctus. Looking forward to future pics.

thanks gary! they do have all the quintessential elements we demand of our clownfish anemones. in my opinion, a large healthy crispa, particularly the tannish gray ones, look great with a bright yellow clarkii complex clown in it. one of the nicest combos.

ill try to get some pictures of it when its fully outstretched. that way it will hide all the algae i suddenly have growing in that tank....

Hi Ron i love those Nigripes, i remember years back when you attempt to buy like a dozen of them wild caught and hope they survive and breed them? today we can get them captive breed which eliminates possibility of wild caught with the dreadfull brooks....etc... i remember i see a pair at Petco not long ago and they were there for a long time. most people dont find them interesting but for me they are my favorite.

My sebae and orange skunk

My sebae and orange skunk

Yeah, I agree. And my orange skunk and gray/tan crispa look good together, to me. But that purplish one you have is really stunning.

i do like me some nigripes as well. i would still like to try out a swarm of them, but i would need only young juveniles. once there is an established female, the entire aquarium becomes a ghost town.

i currently have a sustainable aquatics female and a wild caught male nigripes.

thanks deepsea! fortunately, its been a very tough anemone....

here are some updated pictures of the 60 gallon portion of this system. the colors are a bit misleading, the magnifica is not blue...it is actually purple. i need to get a better picture editing app on my phone....strangely enough, the chrysogasters will only go into the magnifica on the left, this is interesting because it was listed as an "african ritteri", but really, this is unverifiable. but one would think they wouldnt have a preference, if anything they should choose the larger of the two anemones to enjoy.

thanks colt!

i decided i wanted my display to hold all of my favorite things. so the nigripes are in the garage system, and the chrysogasters get the main stage.

where the nigripes would hardly leave the magnificas, the chrysogasters are much more confident. but like i mentioned earlier, they refuse to have anything to do with the purple magnifica which i find really interesting.
