Rovster's Custom Reef Savvy build......FINALLY!!!

Things are chugging along quite well. I still have some brown snot on the rocks but slowly it's lessening. My clean up crew consists of 5 snails and 2 hermits, I bet if I added more the snot would go away sooner. I am noticing a breakout of vermatids, but I've never minded them a whole lot. Skimmer is producing a good amount and I'm feeding pretty heavy. I did add my clowns last weekend and it took them a few hours to make themselves at home. Some pics to follow.....

So here is a current FTS...

All my sps are slowly recovering from the heat spike in the ghetto tank. My BOP colony which I thought was a gonner, is showing signs of color. Montis are slowly coloring and encrusting and the few acros I have seem to be doing well. Tho one thing that doesn't change I'd I can't seem to keep any zoas happy. All are half closed and shriveled. This is the same I'm my last tank. Sucks cuz I like the little brown flowers....

All look like this.....:(

This monti is finally coloring up. It was a nice shade of turd when first transferred. Polyps and base more colored now.

Before....

Current...

Fully colored it has an almost yellow base.

Eddies frag encrusting and has held color well....

This sunset monti got transferred a month ago. Base lost all color and looked half dead. The base color is coming back and I see some new growth...

Some LPS...

Here is the nem. It was happy for a few weeks and eating, but I cranked up the flow recently and has been hiding a bit more. Hopefully it just needs a little time to adjust...

I lost 90% of my large red dragon frag a month ago. There was a tiny nub left so I transferred to the big tank and so far it's growing and encrusting. It's still a booger, but not giving up yet, lol...

I got some sweet tester frags from Betamed. Awesome frags and great price!

All of these are after one week in tank....

Mille...

Blue tort...

Green table....

Green stag...

Echinata...

Random purple acro.....

Transferred this one a month ago. Seems reasonably happy. Started as nearly a single polyp and was dormant for like a year....

Rics....

Left island...

Right island

Another thing worth noting is my gsp is moody and has been half closed or 2 weeks. Not dead, but wierd.

I'm currently dosing 18ml 2 part and alk stays pretty stable...

Hate to tell you this, but that anenome you have will wipe out all of your SPS corals. The rbta constantly move around and sting other corals. Mine wiped out every SPS I’ve had.

I was under the impression that once settled they don't move. That's why I added it early before moving over all my sps. Thanks for the warning though, I'll keep a close eye on it.

Those new frags from betamed looks sweet man! How long did it take for all the diatoms to go away, I am having the same issue now after my transfer.

Mine hasnt moved from its piece of rock in a year, even after transferring to a new tank.

Diatoms still there as you can see from pics. Snails eat it, but 5 can't keep up lol. Doesn't bother me. I know I have 6 months of the "ugly duckling" phase. All I care about is keeping things stable and healthy. So far no complaints. Once a week I clean the back and blow the rocks and run a couple of socks. They clog quick!

Yes, betamed's frags are awesome. His system is impressive!

Ya I have 4 turbos going at it and a few hermits but mine has coated my back glass and now looks like a sheet of grass. Have you started doing water changes or are you still waiting for the tank to completely cycle?

Started weekly water changes a few weeks ago. I never did any testing, lol. Just assumed I was cycled. I figured if nothing is dying, and sps corals look good and growing, I can ASSume I'm ok;)

I let it go for like 2 months with no water changes. Had a little diatoms, but the heavy snot didn't show up until I started stocking.

Haha...I'm in the same boat! SPS and LPS look great but snot everywhere. No ammonia but some Nitrate, haven't had any casualties yet after 3 weeks. Going to do my first water change tomorrow. I also ASSume that I'm ok :o

Very nice Rovster- Give it time. All will fall into place.

Regarding anemone- let it be. Mine has not moved for over 3 years. It has divided up 3 times, and babies roam around also. I kept one sold the others. Never an issur=e for my SPS.

Did a waterchange today. Can't wait to get my water change station built. I'm tired of hauling buckets! That brown snot just sucks up with the hose.

I started treatment on my ghetto tank for flatworms. Going to start with prazi for a couple of weeks and drop the levamisole bomb soon. Any tips for catching fish without draining the entire tank? Anyone have a fish trap I can borrow?

Levamisole? what kind of flatworms you talkin bout here?

The worst kind Eddie! AEFW:( I battled them over a year ago and everything was great until very recently. Funny because I've only added coral from one source since then and I know it wasn't from him. My guess is I decimated the population but did not eradicate it. There are only two Corals that seem to be affected but I don't want to take any chances so I'm going to nuke the entire tank.
