Rovster's Custom Reef Savvy build......FINALLY!!!

The worst kind Eddie! AEFW:( I battled them over a year ago and everything was great until very recently. Funny because I've only added coral from one source since then and I know it wasn't from him. My guess is I decimated the population but did not eradicate it. There are only two Corals that seem to be affected but I don't want to take any chances so I'm going to nuke the entire tank.

Ahh I see. Ive been following that same RC thread. Dont have any, but know its a matter of time, and i like to be prepared (with the knowledge) in case i need it in the future.. Didnt realize "prohibit" is levamisole.

Yeah. I spoke about my battle on a previous thread. 8 weeks of weekly Bayer dips! Those buggers are resilient!!!!

Coming along great Danny. Hope the new tank syndrome does not last too long. I wonder if less light would stop the growth abit.

Love the rimless look. Kind of a PITA to clean without splashing water, but otherwise no complaints so far.

As far as a tank update, things are going well so far. I'm still dealing with the brown snot but it's slowly getting better. My chaeto is growing great and it's ready for a trim already. I have no hair algae whatsoever. I had a little cyano but that went away. My phos is holding steady at around 0.04 and my nitrate will not budge from 0!! Actually I'm even considering dosing nitrate because my montis and birdsnests are pale. Strange because I feed the tank a ton, and those 2 tangs are pigs! I give them nori 3-4 times a day.

The nem is also doing well. Has doubled in size and eats readily. Rocks are slowly getting purple with coralline as well and my favias and hammer have grown new heads. My zoas do continue to struggle. Another reason to dose nitrate, but I'm sure Eddie will talk me off that ledge.

I'm still battling the AEFW in the ghetto tank and that is going well. I have a large order of high end frags coming in in a few weeks as well, so tank will get loaded with lots of stix soon! So excited:D

Amazing work on the stand. Just read through the thread. Hope you sort out AEFW problem. Your tank looks very promising, will be keenly following. :)

Thanks Sahin. Once I get all my corals transferred, I may start a thread in the SPS section with just coral pics ;)

Nice video, definitely a lot of growth with the chaeto!
Keep up the great work

Haha, there's a ton more in there now! I've never had chaeto before so I don't know when you're supposed to trim, but its wall to wall now and getting dense! I flip it over twice a week. Not sure if I'm supposed to do that. Almost like I'm roasting it on a spit, LOL!

LOL nice! That's fine, i'm sure there are others that will trade with you for it. Or you can trim a little and feed it to your tangs. maybe they will like it.

Love the Powder Blue. Glad you where able to get a healthy specimen.

What kit are you using to get that zero on Nitrates? With lots of feeding and that bioload it doesnt seem right, not impossible, just not likely. And your right, ide hold back feeding NO3 for a bit (if at all). Tank is still very immature.

Using a salifert kit. It works because I had a nitrate spike in the other tank a couple of months ago and it's down to 5 now. The big tank reads crystal clear which is 0! I feed all frozen like 3 times a day and feed nori 3 times a day + some coral food. Just started dosing acropower I had laying around just to see if I can get some nitrate. Chaeto is growing amazing and I do have some snot, but it doesn't look that bad. I was prepared for a really ugly looking tank for 6 months but that never happened. Most of the snot is on the sand and on a shelf piece. I've got some frags coming in in a few weeks so I want that water to be just where I like it, which is just reading nitrate.

My Setosa is growing but is pinkish pale. In my other tank a piece is deep orange. My sunset is also growing but the base is a pale red. And the birdsnest recovery project is still going. There is no more algae on the coral but looks pale and starved. I did bring the intensity of my lights down from 60% to 40% to see if that has any effect. I only did that yesterday though so we'll see!

Oh, and another thing to mention Eddie, is that remember I started with some pretty sterile rock, so there was not die off to fuel a nitrate spike at the end of the cycle, and you seeded some of my rock but it was already clean as a whistle. I'm running about 3/4 cup of GFO but it won't budge from 0.04 (Hanna ULR). I was thinking if I can get some nitrates in there, that may also have an indirect effect on the phosphate?

I also can't imagine that chaeto is cleaning that up that quick. Its not like I have a huge fuge either. Although, it is packed wall to wall now and I will be trimming it this weekend. Something has to be feeding it!

If anyone wants some chaeto, let me know. Its not loaded with stuff, but there are some pods and brittle starts in there.

For the record, I'm not chasing numbers and freaking out about the snot. I'm perfectly happy with the way the tank is looking and going at this point. Just needs MOAR STIX!

Last night I dropped the third Levimasole bomb in the ghetto tank. Used a much higher dose. No flatworms were seen on basting!

On another note, the nem has not moved and is starting to get some size. It has not lost any color since the beginning.
