RR jaw dropper

Ok let's put it this way. It dose not matter what people charge for a piece it's when they alter the picture to deceive people that gets me upset.

Not that those 2 go hand and hand it's just this one can fit into both categories. Someone who has mastered the Photoshop program, provided us with his Mona Lisa and people flocked to pay outrageous prices. I consider myself to have quite a bit of disposable cash, however I would never spend that kind of money for any coral… Of course that’s my philosophy.

Congratulations to the person who sells 1" pieces of acropora for $1000 or more. You sir/madame are a genius.

A fool and his money will soon part ways.

I am most definitely a coral guy. I find the most incredible peace and serenity staring at my tank full of sps and a few assorted LPS. I can get lost for hours, just staring at goofy things like coloring of a branch, polyps swaying in the flow, checking out how the encrusting base is doing, assessing growth, thinking about whether there is any more space for another frag, watching fish glide by. Getting excited by the green yucky look of my skim mate from the protein skimmer. Verifiying the bubble count on my calcium reactor. Reassuring myself of the amount of flow through my GFO reactor. Feeding the fish, checking my apex controller. Reading and interpreting the state of my tank just by looking. ON and on. It is an absolute joy. And when an incredibly beautiful, never seen before acro comes out, I dream about getting it and somehow finding the room for it. Anywhere, somewhere, there must be a spot I can add another frag.

I never could find a frag of the jaw dropper or even the wolverine, nor the bleeding avenger. I would certainly be willing to pay a lot for a gem, how high I would go, not really sure. Is $1,200 crazy for a frag, maybe, for me it is. It is certainly a crazy price for a frag that can't hold color or maybe never really had the color promised. I don't know if the jaw dropper ever looked like the photo or if it was indeed "enhanced via photoshop". I don't know if it has the potential to look like the photo or if it is all hype.

I do know that I don't like vendor bashing and nor would I defend anyone ripping any of us off. Reef Raft has brought some amazing corals out to the reefing market. I'm gonna spend my time staring and daydreaming about the really great ones and leave this one alone. I never had the jaw dropper and I don't plan on getting it. I have a handful of Reef Raft "signature corals" and I think they are phenomenal and truly beautiful gems. All of us have different tastes and different abilities at coloring and photographing coral. I think it is indeed time to let go of the jaw dropper mania and all the craziness, good and bad associated with it.

Any of you guys, seen that new amazing colored coral picture that has been making the rounds. You know, the coral that.................

+1

Capitalism.

Jay and co are very skilled at colouring acros and colouring them well. IMO only a tiny fraction of reefers are capable of maintaining colours like he does. That said, photoshop is heavily skewed in favor of the seller but without the seller, there would be no coral to photoshop.

The advertised world is far from reality. Do you think the girl in that makeup commercial has skin that perfect, legs that long, eyes that big, hair that nice etc etc. It is what it is and its not going to change now. Hell, she probably isnt even a girl! The latest fad is hipsters getting beard implants for cripes sake! just my .02 assuming its fake is keeping it real

Saw this one on Face book reef raft asia. Should be coming to the usa soon...

deeefinitely a shooped photo.

Related Experience:
I've seen some shooped photos in my day.

I'm going to spray paint one of my brown stag's and name it "super-mega-nova-death-angel from heaven."

I'll be back with the shooped photos in a week. Who wants a $1,500 frag?

Just to be clear RR California has nothing to do with any of this.

I have a very good relationship with them and know this 100%.

This has to to with the Canada RR I Just wanted to mention this so no one is confused.

I myself have over a dozen RR pieces like mentioned above yes I'm one of those that will pay LOL. This has gotten so much hype I'm surprised when the photoshop was placed next to the frag offered no one called em out. IMO it was the hype that got the asking price HYPE put big blinders on the one who purchased it because they are now stuck with a 1,200 frag that they will be lucky to get 100 bucks for by the looks of it.

The vendor selling on the other site posted a picture of an actual frag. Looked quite different than the original photo. And someone else on there posted a pic of their new frag, looked the same as the vendors actual frag pic, little color.
