Salt Water Mixing Stations Let's See Them

I ended up using a Deep Blue Triton 5 which are rated for 15' of head. I went with that as i got a pretty good deal for only $70 and i have a triton 3 on my main tank which I'm quite happy with. Unfortunately the first pump i bought was loud as hell (sounded like my air compressor) and the second had some defect i side the chamber and it wasn't sealing. But it was really quiet. The third one was the charm luckily. At that point i really didn't want to have to change much of the plumbing to fit in a different pump

The mixing station is on the opposite side of the house so probably close to 75' of hose to get to the tank. A lot of it is eaten up by the stairs which are in the middle of the house and pointed back towards the mixing station. The containers are elevated and from the bottom of the containers to the bottom of the floor was only about 5' and I'm pretty happy with the flow I'm getting. Next WC i will time how long it takes to pump all my SW up :)

I'm looking into setting up a 100g SW - 100g FW mix station in my basement for a planning 190g build... I will need a pump to pump SW to my first floor for biweekly water changes. I'm considering the Pan World 100PX or 150PX to get the water upstairs (about 7' strait up, and 10' across the celling) and then of course though the floor to tank.

I was planning to control the pumps in my basement via my Apex. Thinking of using 2 pumps... A smaller one for 24/7 circulation of the SW holding tank, and the large one to get the water upstairs. What are your thoughts? (I use a basic 30g x2 Brute system now)...

Storage tanks

Storage tanks

Well i was looking for a couple of tanks and i ended up with these. They are 275 gal each. I am wondering if i make a RODI and saltwater tank out of these how long will the water stay good for if not use. I have been only making water when i need it so unsure how long i can truely store saltwater and RO/DI water. Any thoughs here.

I think you're going to need a bigger fish tank!

Given that volume, I wouldn't want to guess. You can keep the salt water fresh by running the mixing pump a few times a day. If you keep them both sealed with the lid, out of the sunlight and in a shaded or cool place, then they should good for a few months or more but I wouldn't drain them to the bottom. I'd add and transfer new water regularly (weekly or bi-weekly).

I plan to install a spray bar for a discharge line so it should keep the water mixed well. i plan to ran a tube to the bottom of the tank and have it capped. Drill holes in the pipe and different depths of the tank so the water should mix well. It will be shaded as well. So i just install a timer to run the pump for and hour twice a day.

I know the tanks are way bigger than what i needed but for the price i had no choice but to go big. lol

Just buy a DC pump, it will use 40W at max setting and let it run all day

I was inspired by all these so decided to make my own. Here's the result.

Since the pump had 1-1/2" fittings I decided to use that on everything. Tanks were from Tank Depot. They had the standard 5" lids but I had them modify the tanks and put the 12" lids on to make things easier to access.

Wow, that's some power behind that pump!

Very nice!!! My only critique is that the Hammerhead Gold is way overkill in my opinion for a mixing pump. I use that for a return pump on my tank but mix with a Little Giant 4MDQXSC which is plenty sufficient for my 100 gallon mixing tank.

Very nice setup though. I just don't see a need for such a large pump for mixing and water transfers. Like I said though, you setup looks great and if you don't mind having that kind of hardware for a mixing pump, it certainly won't hurt anything.

Yeah, it was probably overkill on the pump. No big deal though. I can throttle it back on the output side. Although leaving it wide open sure seems to create a nice turbulent flow for mixing.

Almost finished with mine. All is left is to T off the pipe coming up the floor to feed my ATO reservoir and to feed my return for and plumb a 1/2" line for my drain.

This is where the plumbing from the water change station in the basement will be connected to my return.

Can you please tell me where you got these plastic containers from???? and their dimensions this is exactly what i was looking for but i havent been able to find containers with the dimentions i need please help

I got them from Tank Depot locally in Houston. They are 18x18x40. They originally had the 5" lids on them but I had Tank Depot modify them and put the 12" lids in.

Here is a shot of the label:

I also put a nice scale on them for the gallons. This was done with a Rhino 6000 industrial labeler using 1" permanent polyester label tape.
