SaraB's 268 Gallon Build¦ Try #3!

long great thread!

Sorry to hear about your losses. So which wrasses did you take out? I just got my first laboutei wrasse a few weeks back.

Thanks for taking the time to catch up on the thread!

The rhomboid and lineatus were the wrasses trapped. I have not had good luck at all with the rhomboids as both males I've had have been very mean and chase some of the other fairy wrasses all day long. My first one pestered my supermale lineatus all the time and it eventually died. Now the old female lineatus is now a male and the chase is between them.

The laboutei was my favorite wrasse as well, great fish and congrats!

Sara, What type of DI container are you using. Sorry I didn't respond back to you about ordering carbon blocks. Was out of town..

Catching up on the thread but sorry to hear about the wrasse jumping. Hope the Angel is being a model citizen. As far as tangs. I love 'em and you mentioned some of my favorites. The Gem which of course is out of most pricing. The Powder Blue. I have one and he's great. I have him in with some yellows and purples. The yellows are actually the instigators and show aggression toward the PB but he holds his own. The purples are just really hyper active. The Black Tang is my next tang. They are amazing looking with the long snout and white spikes. I would also like an Achilles if I ever do a huge upgrade or get rid of the PB but thats not likely to happen any time soon. Anyway hope everything is settling with your tank.

Thanks MTH for catching up on the thread! Speaking of Tangs, here's a few newbies :fish1::fish2::fish2::

So far the new bellus has been a model citizen and no coral eating yet ... but then again it took the other one 2 years to develop a taste for them.

I was in a hurry to get the fish added, so this one came out really blurry. Maybe some day they'll venture out of the rockwork for a photo shoot with Gary in the future :fish1::fish1::fish1: They are just some Flasher Wrasses for the extra color!

If I may ask,how many membranes are you using? I imagine you must go through alot of water.I was thinking of using 2 75 gpd.

I've been slowly working on the fishroom getting it re-arranged and some new items installed.

Got the new frag tank online right after Christmas and I finally got around to moving the frags in and hanging the pendant and taking down the 70G Rubbermaid about a month ago. I've got a black plastic sheet blocking the light from the fuge until I get the frag tank and fish back on the reverse light cycle. Sorry the photo is so dark.

I got my work bench moved back over where the 70G Rubbermaid tub was sitting. It will be moved over to the right a bit more once I get the verticle saltwater mixing bucket out of the way that is shown in the photo:

I also got my freshwater for top-off and saltwater mixing tubs all plumbed with the help of Gary last weekend. It's nice to have some organization, space and sanity in the fishroom again!

Very nice Sara :) When is your feminius getting shipped :p

Thanks!

LOL - Remember my husband Jon said "NO" to that purchase. He can't understand spending that kind of money on something that could potentially die sooner than later is all. If I sell some frags and pay for it with that money, he'd be okay ... so I have to start selling and saving :spin3:

Worked on the basement all weekend and re-arranged some of the hubbys basement office to fit my new 45G cube into it. It's larger than the 29G Biocube Got the black background on the cube and cleared out the corner for it. Just need to get it plumbed now :)

Black background applied:

On the other side of the wall is the fishroom. The pipes on the left are just placed there to make sure I didn't have to drill larger holes through the wall. They fit, so we are good to go!

LOL - you can see the collection in the reflection, huh? He's actually a part-time vintage toy dealer and all I hear about is how I'm going to rust his vintage Hot Wheels! I got the glass cover for the cube so that I can "protect his investment" ;)
