SC Aquariums Owners Thread

I had a sump crack once, and the only way out was though the back. I drained my tank down as low as i could get it, and slowly worked the stand away from the wall.

If i were in your shoes, with a new tank and not much (or any) livestock to worry about, id just drain it down most of the way into a couple of trashcans. Do what you need to do, replace the brace and fill it back up.

Thanks, that sounds eerily the same. Especially the giant ebo Jager heaters! Luckily the sump comes out through the front, but I wish I could redo the floor underneath while I had the tank drained, but that may be too much effort. I have to replace like 120 square feet of flooring where it's warped. Lesson learned.

Bummer- I hate when I do stuff that ends up being a "big mistake" . It happens to us all. Just glad that it didn't crack for unknown reasons.

Custom SC Aquariums 150 Rimless

Hello fellow SC Aquarium owners. I'm new to the thread and just want to share that I'm having Steve at SC Aquariums build me a 60x24x24 3/4" starphire glass rimless tank. I've been out of the Saltwater aquariums for about 15 years now and finally getting back in. See attached a pic of my tank.

I wish I had not been so impatient and had them do a custom for me as opposed to the stock 150 but such is life. Though that said I get to get a new tank whenever we finally move houses (hopefully in next year or 2 though have to finish some remodeling). I'm thinking a custom dimension tank at that point and will have Steve build for me and potentially a custom stand as well with side doors and an electrical compartment.

on an unrelated note does anyone have issues with powerhead magnets working ont he back wall? I have a 150 and my WAVs did not like trying to stick on the back wall with the vinyl overlay. I had to put them on the sides which was fine but with wanting to add more flow I am a bit at a loss of where to put new pumps. I think I might be limited to the overflow housing but curious what other people's experience is.

Ordering my 150 gal 60x24x24 this week...havent read most posts here but so far i am loving these tanks. Any reservations anyone?

This is unusual, since the tanks have 12mm glass. The Wavs are good up to 1".
Im also planing on using these pumps. Im curious to what the issue is?

Hmm ... I am trying to decide on what to use for internal flow, if gyre or mp40 magnets don't work on read panel of tank, then that's an issue.

I've had my mp10's, tiny hydor korralias, and now jebao pp8's on the back glass with no issue of them sticking. I was originally worried about the mp10's as they are not designed to be on 12mm glass, but they stick and work just fine.

If the MP10's stick, then the Wavs would stick with ease as well
