SC Aquariums Owners Thread

It depends on your overflow placement.
It's normally not a big deal to cut an opening on top for overflow, and I personally leave the back off and open so it can breathe anyway, but again, should be no big deal to cut an opening.
This may vary on stand design as to how difficult corrections can be made.
Is your stand a 2x frame or ply construction, or 1x?

Wow! These are really nice tanks and very reasonably priced. I'm buying equipment for my upcoming tank. I have a 100 gallon Visio that I got for $50 from a local reefer. I've always wanted a star fire euro-braced tank, but they're expensive. The thing is I don't want the overflow that comes stock. I'd rather just have the bare tank to drill myself for my synergy reef ghost overflow. Do they accommodate special orders like that? I guess I should call or email to find out.

That 112 is looking really good to me right now! It will fit on the stand that I designed out of t-slot aluminum extrusion.

Just got my 150.. am very happy with its finish and look. Steve was always very helpful and I am very excited to set it up!

Yes,my tank was custom, awaiting delivery now. They took out their overflow, sealed the bottom, then drilled the back of the tank for me. I have a build thread over on the Pittsburgh local area.

If anyone got a 40-60gallon cube setup for sale.. Please let me know. Would be interested in a new one but my budget would be used one.

I saw your thread. That's a really nice tank. Steve did reply to my email. He said it would be 20% more and a 12 week lead time. Which really isn't a lot. That would bring the tank cost to $1028.80 for the 112. I might as well have them drill the tank for my 16 inch synergy reef overflow and returns. I work from home, so I'll be looking for a bigger place within the next three months. Once I find a suitable home to rent I'll order the tank.

I simply cannot say enough about Steve and his awesome CS!

I cracked my skimmer cup(SCA 302) last night, well actually blew it apart, I immediately emailed Steve and within minutes he sent me a paypal invoice. To which I promptly paid and he sent me a tracking number this morning. Where else in this hobby can you get CS like that? I can think of a few companies, but not many.

Absolutely great CS! Even when I was going through the process of ordering my tank, and even after I received the tank and the skimmer body was all jacked up. Steve promptly sent me out a new skimmer body the next day. Every single email and phone call was answered quite promptly, and if he didn't know the answer to my question, he found out for me and either called or emailed me back the next day.

Great company to do business with.

As a side note:
My SCA tank is well built, very heavy starfire glass, and all the seems are all nice, tight and well done. Great tanks at a really fair rate. Best part is they will do custom orders if you need one. I have yet to find a dissatisfied SCA customer.

I am dissatisfied. Dissatisfied that I did not know of SCA sooner to have gotten things going earlier then I have with the 150.

Just received my replacement wood table a few minutes ago. The damage to that is even worse.

The damage was under the foam and cardboard packaging so I did not see it until after I signed for it.

I am at my wits end on what to do. Should have gone with something more reliable like a Red Sea Reefer :(

What should I do?

I agree with the above comments. I think SC goes way under the radar when it comes to how great their product and customer services are. I wish them the best

Kz sounds like you have horrible shipping people by you if they are breaking through pallets and such. I don't think it matters who ships a stand if they are like that

Did you notice the appearance of the shipping container? Are there signs of damage to the shipping container where there is breakage to the cabinet? If so, you will have the same result regardless of which product you purchase.

Thank you for telling me that damage to the shipping container could damage the product. :hmm2:

As you can see from the pictures, there was no shipping "container" the stand was wrapped in foam and had cardboard angles on the side.

I realize that damage to the shipping container means damage to the item. The damage was not visible on the packaging. If the damages were visible, I would have refused delivery.

Is it possible that they could have damaged the aquarium too? I haven't tested it for any leaks or such.. Can't do that till i get a stand.

Also, I just moved to this place and have had all my furniture delivered without issue.

I don't know how these are shipped as I haven't purchased a SCA tank yet, but don't you have to sign for it? I would have inspected and refused.

Shipped by LTL companies like Customco.com. Yes, signature required at delivery. I did inspect, no damage to packaging, which was two layers of light foam.

Anyone ever return their setup?

Since I haven't unpacked or used anything, I am planning to return everything to SC Aquariums, no point in spending $1200 and getting nothing out of it. Will use that to get a Red Sea Reefer
