SC Aquariums Owners Thread

In my tank, the side eurobrace glass pieces are 0.5" from the top, and the front and rear are glued below them, at 1" from the top of the tank. The top of the internal ghost overflow box is maybe 1/4" from the lowest eurobrace piece(front one). I could not set the box higher than that since the silicon glue from the eurobracing didnt allow the box to make contact.

The overflow manufacturer states that flow should make the water level be 1.5" below the top of the overflow box, so my water level is now set at 2.5-3" below the top of the tank.

Im trying to figure what is the distance from the bottom of the teeth of the overflow to the front eurobracing piece, so I can sort of understand if my water level is about normal with the standard intended level by the manufacturer.

I could also allow the level to be set higher, and decrease the distance from the water level to the top of the tank, but that is my last resort. I wonder what are the consequences and If i will even be allowed to do so with three drains coming out of my outside box..

Here are some pics with the overflow in place:

why not cut the silicone back slightly so you could have it be flush? Silicone in that small section being cut back is not going to be detrimental as it is still sealed behind the glass...

That would increase level by 1/4", which i would like, but unfortunately the holes were drilled with the silicone gap...at this point i would say as long as the regular tank's tower overflow has the same distance as mine, i will know it will look at least ok

They obviously changed where they place the eurobraces. If u read my build thread , first post, i was told the front andback braces were placed 1.5 inches below the top of the tank. Then add the 1/2 inch for the thickness of the glass= 2 inches below top of tank. Then the side braces where under the front/back braces ,so the top of those braces were at 2 inches, then add there thickness of 1/2 inch. So the bottom of the side braces would have been 2.5 inches recessed from the top of the tank. Glad they changed the recessed measurements since i was deciding on my tank back in Feb/March.

Hi friends,

I am looking for a decent looking cabinet and tub to store RO water for my ATO system. I was scrounging around on the forum a while ago and found a link to a decent cabinet for $24 on Amazon. I will use a rubbermaid tub in that to store water.

I don't have any space in my aquarium cabinet to store an RO topoff container.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

I think you got wrong stuff man. My tank was from last year and i have perhaps 1.5" total from top of tank to bottom of eurobrace.

building an obsession makes a fantastic loking ato container and you can have them add in a float to hook into an apex or such to alert you to low water levels.

advanced acrylics is also awesome: http://advancedacrylics.com/collections/auto-top-off

I'm getting a custom tank built and the standard eurobrace is .47 inches from the rim and another .47 thick glass. So you're at about an inch to start. With the ghost, you're looking at a 2.3" water level.

I didn't like the fact that the euro brace was there and made using the ghost overflow a pain and would make the water level lower so i opted to get Steve to build me a rimless 150g. I'm glad i did that and now my water level will be 1-1/2" from the top of the tank.

Yep- Testing my custom tank tank/overflow in the garage now and just using a Mag9 my water level is about 1.25 inches from the top. So, I think the water thickness over the weir will be slightly more when I am pushing 1500-1800 thru the system raising that water line. So, I am hoping for about a 1 inch from the tank top water line when I dial in everything in the full finished setup.

My order is in! 120 with 15mm Starphire. Synergy Reef "ghost" overflow. Looking forward to getting back in the game!
Have you ordered the overflow yet? If not, get the shadow overflow as it's on sale for a great price. Plus if you ordered custom, it should be in around the time your tank arrives.

After the aquarium arrives I am getting ready to move my Nanocube inhabitants and LR and LS to the new tank along with the water. Since it is a larger tank, how should I do it?]

I wouldnt recommend moving your sand. Go with new sand. For your rock it's a simple lift and shift.

makes your salinity is the same between both tanks as well as temperature.

I dont know what you have for livestock, but I would recommend introducing them a week at a time, starting with the least aggressive fish in your tank, and working up to your most aggressive.

Your new tank is going to cycle just like your nano did, so please be sure to keep your nano setup while your new tank cycles. once the cycle is complete start the migration.

For those who are using the sump that SCA provides. What do you have running/growing/placed in the center chamber?

Adding on to Jim. Anyone have Marinepure block in their refugium area? I am not sure it would fit in there.

I have a 66G with the stock sump
