Had a 50 gallon and recently just upgraded to a 150 which is waiting to be filled. I have to ask, what under mat do you all use for the big sc aquariums

yeah the 150 should come with a mat. It looks to be part fo the shipping box though so could easily be overlooked...

Hey fellas, just setup my 50g cube from sca...love it.
Question though, how much flow is needed for this overflow? My tank has the 1/2 return with 1" drain. Currently have a dcs9000 on it at about 50% but overflow doesn't suck out the surface debree.. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I just received my 75g (36x24x20). The overflow is huge. Has anyone here removed the internal overflow and plugged the holes? I'm thinking of doing that and using a ghost overflow. Excellent quality tank by the way.

plenty have removed it but note that the black covering for the rear of the tank does not go over the glass behind the overflow so you would need to address that...

Thanks to those that answered my question. I was going to use the mat it came with since that's what I used for my 50 gallon cube but this one came a few inches short in width.

You could also use a neoprene mat should you wish as your mat is too short.

Has anyone had issues with regulating temperature on these things? Mine will fluctuate from 79-83 degrees. My heater is set on 78. I also keep the door cracked as ventilation is horrible and rusting out my hinges. This thing is only 4 months old

Where do you get a neoprene mat? The top of my stand is 3/4 plywood. It seems like the biggest thing is making sure the tank is leveled. I've read so much and it seems like everyone uses different things and even argue one an other which is the last thing I want. Lol

BRS Sells neoprene for one or you can get it at many arts and crafts stores or amazon.

Its not the material on the top of the stand but that the foam takes care of any potential pressure point on the tank from the stand so that you dont have any rupture issues

I just got a reply from the sc aquariums and he said a yoga mat will do just fine. Thanks everyone for the help.

75 is in the house! although it may move over to the corner... only thing I have to find is the proper fitting for the pump.

So apparently it looks like for my ph-3000 pump I need a 3/4" NPT x 1" Barb but I have a 1" NPT x 1" Barb and a 3/4" NPT x 3/4 Barb that came with it.

I have a sca 50g cube with sump. Are you guys using the filter pads in the sides of the middle area?
I left a filter pad in between skimmer side and refugium; and took out the pad from refugium to return pump so my pods can make the way to the main tank.
Now I notice there is a small top wave created by the return pump. Is this normal?
Should I keep the filter pads on both sides or remove them?

Not sure what you mean by a top wave being formed. In the return section of the sump? Only thing I can think of is the flow coming into the sump is excessively fast and is "pushing" water through it too quickly.

I am not setup yet; but I won't be using the pads/filters. Just sock(s)/skimmer, refugium with live rock, and return.

Most people don't use the pads they tend to become nitrate factories if you don't clean them every other day. I put filter socks in mine and I may put them in when I am stirring up the bed, but remove them after a few hours. It depends on what you are trying to grow in your tank but their is a real possibility you can make your tank to clean and starve your filter feeders.
