Lovin' all the gorgs, I intentionally decided against having a CBB in this tank as I've done for years just so I can have several gorgs myself, just have not seen many locally lately, may have to order myself.
You're making me nervous to hop on my newly revamped mountain bike!
I don't need the injury slow downs myself right now either.

Hey bud you should get some gorgs. KP has great ones.

Well it was a cracked rib . On the mnt. Bike that healed then a silly motorcycle crash trying to tow it. I know I know the the hell was I thinking but it was only 1/4 mile or less from my house..

Get out and enjoy your bike before summer gone. Only a cpl more month for me.

OK so I let the ATS go for two weeks this time before cleaning.

A decent harvest. Was hoping/expecting more. Still have a bit got GHA in the DT but it is going away.

Yeah I have friends that live in Jacksonhole half the year and ride, you guys have a shorter window, but much cooler ride in both definitions of the word!
Summers have been hot for our trails, I'm actually sitting here waiting for the fedex guy to bring my osprey raptor hydro pack right now so I can go ride, come on fedex guy!

Yeah it was that pack or a new ATO, figure I could use the exercise both riding and lifting 5g jugs at this time!

Ha nice! Well I have an Ato but I still haul 5g buckets up a flight of stairs to my res. It's a labor of love.

I just realized it's been a while since my last update on the tank.

It's going well. Some good and bad news:

It did have my linespot flasher wrasse jump out of the the tank however I was able to find him and give him fish CPR..not sure he was gonna make it. But he did! Yay good news.
Help him in my hand in water for quite awhile before he swam away.

But the next day I found my Mccormick wade on the sand bed :( bummer I really liked this guy and took along time to get him. There was a Lil aggression between the flashers but bearly just some intimidating no real chasing. So not sure what happened there. :(

My ATS is doing good still. I harvest every 7 to 14 days. Still not at the point where I would turn off my skimmer.

well its been about two weeks since my last update.

lets see whats going on. got a shipment of corals from aquaSD
for this tank I got a 9 head ducan colony and 3 mini maxi nems. was hoping fr more color difference between them they are pretty much all the same color.
got a frag of some deep sea zoas but they vanished. :(
pics to come...

my ATS is still kicking butt all though I still would not turn off my skimmer. might go to a waterfall as well. or add another upflow we will see.

gonna do a re-scape today as I am not 100% happy with what I have. dont feel like I am taking advantage of the 24" dep of the tank. but with that BIG overflow box in the middle and the 2 very large pices of LR i got from TBS it challenging..

i'll post pics of what I come up with.

Still have yet to re- scape but here a quick pic I took today.
Thought it was cool and worth sharing...

well that's an interesting question...
I do like the slim profile of the upflow ATS can put it just about anywhere. its cheap to build I believe under $30 can be cheaper if you go with an ebay LED driver.

that said I might add some macros to my fuge area just cus i can...

so to answer your question ATS vs fuge that has be debated on many threads. my personal take we need to what each of us are into I really wanted to try an ATS for years now. so that what i did over a fuge.

its all about finding that balance in your tank. I say go for both and see what works for you and your tank. with one drive you can run your ATS and a fuge depending on the bio load one will out compete the other tho...most time the ATS will win.

hope that helps some?

Do you recommend your ATS over a refuge?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

I have tried both and found that ATS will cause the refuge to suffer. The kind of algae that grows in ats has more rapid growth compared to macro algae.
I personally use a santa monica ats along with a skimmer. These are my primary ways of nutrient export.

^ yeah I have to agree with that all depends on your goal really. but if you want to just export easy fast and efficient go with an ATS...

tank is been running pretty good. except I went on vacation for a few days and had a power outage the return pump did not kick back on...had to have a friend over over a mess with it.
the lights -photon V2 did not resume there program 5 days with out light
and my tunze ATO did not kick back on after the power outage.

so yeah sh*t always goes wrong when we are not home eh..

just ordered a few more fish for the tank! be here on Tuesday...
