Mine is mostly yellow (pic shows more brown than it is) and is almost 3 years old. It started from a frag and doesn't grow all that fast, even though it gets pretty good light. I think more light = less brown. It has nothing to do with health IMO and doesn't necessarily mean it's dyed. The polyps on mine never come out during the day, but it's nice and hairy at night.
