Hi,

I have a H. Crispa in my 55 G, and im currently having some probs with cyano algae - red slime algae, and im thnking on taking out all my gravel substracte and make my aqua a bare bottom.-

Do you think that can kill or make some harm to the anemone?

No... Right now I have a crispa bare bottom with live rock... It will find a rock and stick to it... Kind of like wedging himself in between the rock and glass... It should be fine. Mine has been like this for 8months

been keeping mine on barebottom for 6 months now. The foot is stuck directly onto the bottom of the tank.

I don't personally keep mine in a bare bottom situation but it doesn't bury it's foot in the sand at all. At first I tried to place it in several locations in my tank where the sand and rock meet and it would always detache within a day or two. Finally it found a spot elevated above the sand with it's foot buried deep within a rock crevace and has stayed there for the last 5 months or so.

My personal belief is that they are not necessarily sand dwelling anemones anyway. Much of the footage of these anemones in the wild shows them attached to rocky reef structures. That being said I have seen them live happily for years in both situations. A healthy Heteractis crispa, I believe, would have no problems living in a bare bottom tank.
