Setting up a 180

Here are a few terrible pics that I just snapped.:(

Hey Musky1963, those are not terrible shots at all...I am very impressed with your 75, it's very well done and doesn't look small at all :)
How long has it been setup?

Tell me about NG, my 46 is so full of hair algea and aiptasia I forgot what it even looked like before I had them:rolleyes:

The water level is about 3/4 of the way full, taking longer than I thought but it is very close.

Off topic alert: I was very busy with landscaping the last 2 days and have more to do tomorrow:( I may or may not begin to add salt depending on the outcome of the landscaping project. But by mid week I will no matter what!

I put in a dry well for the sump pump and making a 25' x 17' garden bed. I tried to remove a sugar maple stump, waste of time! Roots everywhere and deep, so I am making it into a burning pit:eek1: I just realized...I am off topic.

So NG, your 75 pictures are awesome and I really mean it, I think your choice of livestock is great and you make it all look so good. How do you mount your frags? I put mine on plugs but the plugs are so big they stick out.

Thanks :)

I use left over base rock or ugly pieces of LR that are in my sump. For zoas I just superglue the frags to the rock then place the rocks where I want them. For my shrooms and ricordeas I use LR as well, but it's a lot harder to get them to stick. SG doesn't work. Netting over them seems to get them to stick pretty good after a few days.

I actually made a pretty rock of different colored shrooms from frags once. It came out really nice :) I have a pinks birdsnest that I got with a large plug and I hate the way it looks.

I have never tried to frag any SPS. I fragged a hammer and frogspawn which was easy since it was branched out. I just stuck the ends into holes in the LR and it worked just fine.

Thanks NanoGurl, I appreciate the feedback. I fragged a Montipora on a plug supplied by foster and smith, the plugs are larger than I thought and a bit obnoxious with a small frag.

My tank is full :D :D , well except for the sump. I will be mixing salt once I can run the pump. It took a long time but it's almost done:p

I will then start to add live rock to both the sump and tank.

My blue tip acros are starting to bleach a little, they keep getting knocked around by a crab, I really need to get them out and in the 180. Starting to feel a little pressure, I don't want to lose any corals before or after the move.

Yea, my pinks birdsnest is that way. I don't like them either.

Woohoo! Congrats :)

Sorry to hear about the acros... can you move them down into the sandbed? You could always reduce the light per day as well until you can get the 180 up?

I had one in the sand and one toward the top, they both have a white spot starting. I will watch them closely the next couple of days, right now they are on a square of egg crate. I think I am going to break away some of the egg crate around them and super glue them to small rocks. I was going to wait for the move but they might not be able to wait that long:(

OK, this is a build thread. The last picture was 8 days ago. You know, the one with your 'Oh what have I gotten myself into' look sitting in front of the plumbing parts. You must have made SOME progress you can show us! :p

I know the 46 shots aren't the greatest... it seems the bow in the tank causes problems with the focus. In the top shot you will see the blue tip acros...I found them on the bottom and the biggest one broke:(

So I got out the super glue and after removing all the egg crate I could, I glued them down.

I was right in the middle of glueing when I received a phone call. I bought a RBTA and a green BTA from a local Reef Central member and will be picking them up next Wednsday.

So honestly....do I have an addiction to reefing?

In the lower picture...just to the right of the unknown acro is a little dot of a thing. To the right of this "DOT" is a 2 head hammer coral. Could the "DOT" be a baby hammer coral? It is kind of soft and jiggles when lightly touched but is achored to the rock.

So I am about 2-3 hours away from the sump being full. I will update again when I can finally add the salt.

EXTREMELY SLOW!!!!! My wife didn't trust the water being on all night and turned it off on me:mad2: So now I am going to stay up until there is enough water so I can turn on the pumps.
