Setting up a 180

Awesome! Your on your way!!

I may have missed it, but are you planning on adding sand also? Or are you going BB? That was a hard decision for me,, finally, I gave up, and decided I wanted some goby/shrimp pair, so in the sand went!!

Actually I just got my 120 filled and running tonite also!! Must be the weather!!

Yea, maybe a really ugly piece you're gonna put in your sump lol.

I agree. When I set up my tank, I ordered new rock, and when the water and temps were right, I chucked it in, not literally of course  but you get the idea.

Your lucky you've got the other tanks though. I'd go mad without a tank to look after :crazy1: :lolspin:

Hey there 2farNorth, yes I have sand in the other tanks and will be making it's way in this one.

Congrats on your 120...It is so hard to see the tank sitting there empty, I am glad you got your tank filled:D

Hey Chris. I wanted to "CHUCK" in my rocks too, but waited until today, and yes the other tanks do help keep my mind off the big tank...sometimes that is :)

Well the day is finally here:D

My daughter had to come and see the progress
last night before bed.

I put all the best pieces from the
rubber maid container in the tank,
the rest in the sump.
I also put some sand from my 46's sump
in for good measure.

My daughter is laughing because I told her she could go for a swim in there:lol: She didn't like the picture and I am sure she would not be happy with me....but who cares, I am her dad and she can't stop me.....Yet!

Yes she is NG, thank you very much. It may have taken awhile but it's happening now:celeb3:

I tested for ammonia because the rock in the container must have had some die off (anticipated) and had a bit of a smell and it's at 0.05. I added some live rock from the 20 which should help kick start the biological process.

Tomorrow I would like to add the 2 yellow tails and 3 spot to the tank and add the rest of live rock and sand thats left from the 20.

Rock placement is going to be a blast, I have added about 70lbs so far including what went in the sump and the tank looks too bare.

Hey NG, the sump noise has gone down a bit, but the pump noise is still annoying.

I can hardly reach all the way to the bottom, let alone the back:rolleyes:  So maybe I should dive in:lol:

I put in all but 6 medium size pieces that is left in the 46 in the 180 and added 2 20 lb bags of live sand. The sand in the 20 is pretty dirty and the 46 needs to be set up a little longer so I decided to go ahead and get some. It wasn't enough to cover the whole bottom but that will happen when the 46 is taken down.

Updated pics in about 20 minutes :)

Pics as promised:)

I had a bunch of cheato from the 20,
So I used it between the baffles to try and
reduce micro bubbles

I really need to clean the outside front glass and maybe learn how to take better pics.

I am going to place an order with saltwaterfish.zzz
About 2 years ago I ordered from them and
was very happy with the quality and condition
of the livestock, I think I will give them another try.

g'day muelpaul

Looking good so far. I'm just wondering as to why you have that piece of timber that is sitting on top of your sump. Will it be removed later? I'd be worried that when it gets wet and mouldy, it will leach toxins into your water when the moisture builds up.

Just a thought ;)

Cheers

Chris

Thanks NanoGurl, they may be small but they have big hearts:)
They have never been as active as they are now, I was going to turn the light off but they are all over the tank...so cool!

Thank you Chris, it will look much better when the rest of the live rock gets put in. The piece of wood was made by the previous owner to help support a light, I just haven't found a light to put in there yet so I am keeping it just in case.

I did a water test and everything is good, I will test it again tomorrow afternoon and maybe add 2 fish from the 46.

I am going to take a rest, and watch the exitement from the three little fishes in their new home:)
