Hey guys,
Currently running Radion G3 over a 25g IM Lagoon. Light is on RMS about 9in above water level. Tank is 12 in deep. Currently running the Coral Lab SPS ab+ at 35% for about a month and coral don't look to great. was thinking of increasing to 45% over the next month (aclimate). Should I go up higher or is this already to high for this tank. Mostly SPS frags in the tank and one RBTA. Thanks
I have the same tank with the radion G3(non pro)9-10" above the water. When I first got the light 6mos ago I ran AB+ at 25-35% for around 10 weeks and my RBTA at the sand bed is turning from red to orange, I have sps like 3" below the water that's not bleaching but turning brown so I knew I need more light.Right now I'm at 55% with 14K for 4 hours then back down to AB+. I'm always worry that I might burn the corals with these light when I first got them because everyone said these light are strong, blah, blah. Now my RBTA is slowly getting the red back and sps is getting deeper color.
Always acclimate if you bumping up intensity. In 4 weeks I'll be at 65% and see how it goes.
What I would do is set it at 60% intensity then acclimate at 60% would put you at around 35-40% to begin with for 6-8wks to be safe. 14k for couple hour really help with boost growth while ab+ to get color, hope that help. Remember that more light you put out you need more nutrient in the tank or else your sps will starve, Light are only 50% success .
Just got w radion RX15s for my 55G. So far very impressed with the lights.
Agreed but the ones on his tank don't look mesh to me. They look solid like Plexi.
Choices, choices.Yes.. and they need cleaning.. I would switch to mesh, but I bet the excuse is evaporation. Just saying.
Get rid of those covers over your tank. They are blocking most of the light from getting into the tank and reflecting it all over the room. If you have "jumpers" in your tank use a mesh top so it doesn't block the light.
